Candace is actually really simple: She just wants her mom to know she isn't a liar. She doesn't actually want her brothers to get hurt or into any serious trouble. Hell, she actually enjoys quite a few of the things they make. But sadly, it's no secret that Linda has no idea what the full scope of her sons abilities are and there have been a few times where we see that it's actually for the best as she tends to overreact. Because Phineas and Ferb have very high luck, the more impressive stuff is always gone by the time Linda shows up. Since she was a little girl, Candace has wanted to share all the fun she and her brothers got up to as a result of their inventions but since her mom never sees these inventions, she dismisses her daughters stories as whimsical tales of an over imaginative child. This hurts Candace deeply as she wants to be able to talk to her mother about the things in her life but, as long as Linda continues to be oblivious to what her sons get up to, she's never going to be taken seriously. Her frequent attempts to bust the boys are her way of trying to force the universe into redeeming her in her mothers eyes. She's just angry and stressed from years of being denied a healthy, honest mother/daughter relationship as a result of her brothers actions. It's genuinely really sad.

Jasmine Penrith I mostly agree with the original comment, but not this one. Because if Candace was actually genuinely concerned for their safety, then why would she not just tell Phineas and Ferb that? Phineas and Ferb seem very easy to talk to and they do whatever she asked them to so if Candace went up to them and said ” hey guys I’m not sure that this is very safe for you to be doing“ then they would look at it and they would be like OK we’ll do something else. And if she genuinely was only afraid for their safety then how come she seems to derive so much glee from The idea of getting them in trouble? I don’t think she’s a bad person but she is annoying and if it was really about the relationship between her and her mom then how come her life goal is to get her brothers in trouble and not to have a healthy relationship with her mom. She can have a healthy relationship with her mom in other ways it’s an obsession and it’s not really explained.

WOW!!!! You hit the nail right on the head!!! I always felt sorry for Candace! No she is not a bad person........at all. And this is just a guess but another reason Candace probably tries to rat her brothers out is perhaps she is a little jealous of what her brothers build sometimes and wishes she could do it too......and of COURSE it is frustrating and sad when your own mother never believes you, and your brothers never tell your mom the truth.

*Fun* *fact* : Phineas's early character design had him actually being the stereotypical bratty little brother, but Dan and Swampy scratched that because they understood that he might not be that likable. The closer we have ever seen to that early Phineas (except from Candace's imaginations) is in the title sequence, on the line "driving your sister insane" when he mockingly paints on what he thinks is her portrait.

Personally, I would put Ferb above Phineas. We never see what Ferb wants to do for the day. If Phineas wants to build something, it is done. Isabella wants a patch, they help. Baljeet wants to climb a mountain, they do it. Buford loses his fish they find it. Ferb is willing to help and not do what he wants to do

I think the villains who are caring with their offsprings are too common and very predictable. Plus, his love for Vanessa is unlike father-daughter relationship, it's closer to romantically love. Dr. Doof being divorced for a long time doesn't help.

Candace may be cranky but she’s a very sweet girl who really cares about her brothers. And her busting obsession is not that simple, it’s more of a drive that made her life more interesting and not only helped her grow but also helped her relationships with her friends, her boyfriend and especially her brothers grow. She made mistakes but always fixed them. Dan povenmire said it himself if she did what the boys did she would get in trouble so it’s only fair.

What I find super interesting about Buford is the fact that he outgrows being a bully, as shown in the high school episode. He’s quite a good example that bullying, which seems to be all many cartoon characters are defined as, can simply be an attempt for someone to find out who they actually are.

I kind of disagree with Doctor Dofenshmirt, he's just a lamb trapped in the wolf's body, he's lost due to all the abuse he had been through and never actually succeded in any of his deeds, therefore, I don' think he's truly evil, of course, he could have ruined someone's life at most times, but do you really a man like him wouldn't be able to find some compassion, when he's the lives that he ruined and quickly decided to change it back and apologize.

I like how in the movie, they more evil version of doof... d-d- whatever. The villain that Perry beats every episode. The more evil version nearly takes both dimensions, but gets stopped when he’s given a golden train to play with, I believe.
