I love their 20-35. Such a cracking lens.

I would get the 28mm 4.0 because of the compact size, the low weight and the focal length, whick is equivalent to a 22mm in full frame, the price is also nice. The 25mm is equivalent to a 19mm !

I love the 25V . No need for the P lenses if you have all V lenses. Nice review Mr Grainger

Thank you for your great comparison on two lenses.. Matt, I see you used a Godox AD200 off camera. Which flash trigger did you use for? A Godox flash trigger for Nikon? or other? Please let me know.. Thanks again.

Excellent video and very helpful. I am in the market for one or other of these lenses. I am keenest on the 28p but from what you say the quality of the 25V seems to be quite a bit superior so may change my mind. Many thanks for this.

NOthing revolutionary out of that comparison, all makes sense, nevertheless excellent video and review. I personally have the 25mm (together with 38 and 90), and the lens is simply up there as per expectations, .....sublime, in handling, image quality, ....and 2.5 aperture combined with IBIS really helps out taking low speed shots in low light handheld while keeping low ISO at the same time....as we all say, ....you get what you pay for. Hats off to Hasselblad for having drastically reduced the lead times as well. Seems like the whole XCD line up is available for purchase now. Just missing now the equivalent to what Fuji just released on the long end (500mm), ....and all will be covered (heck, even 300 + teleconverter would be great).

Thank you very usefull comparison. I was a bit fed up with youtubeurs treating those lenses on par.

I still don't get how Hasselblad makes a wide angle lens with such a tiny front glass! it's almost the size we see on smartphones :-) Thanks for the review, love the X system and I think I'll end up switching to it at some point. So beautiful, so tempting, so amazing to hold and shoot with.

Thank you for this very interesting comparison. I remain however on my hunger, being especially interested in landscape, where I am often at f 8 or 11. And there, I do not know if the image quality of the 25 is visibly superior to the 28mm.

Good point. I’ll check my files and see if I have comparable shots. From memory the flare at 5.6 and 8 was still a big difference. Not sure on contrast vignette etc.

I noticed lots of discolouration around the edges of your X2D. Have you found the anodisation used by Hasselblad to be too prone to normal use?

Any comparisons with the 21?

I didn’t include the 21 as it’s much older and now discontinued

Having the 21mm and the 28P, it's hard for me to justify the 25v, but your flare and sharpness testing does show a real difference. I wonder how the 21mm would perform vs the 25v in those areas - any thoughts?. Also, I always apply the software profile corrections, so I wonder how the photos you posted would compare after software correction (of course this shouldn't affect the flare results). Thanks for the video!

Hope you can help here: Would your 25V lens shutter make lauder sound than your 28P?
@mattgranger5 ай бұрын
Yes it is a bigger, and louder shutter mechanism on the 25v. Still quieter than say… a DSLR 😂

Just got a copy of 25v and I was surprised at how loud it was.

I agree the 25V is a better lens - but I bought the 28P. I already have the XCD 4/21 + 2.5/38V and was looking for portability. Now we see the very pricy 20-35E.
@riswanc6 ай бұрын
The difference is quite drastic just as much as its price.. but i pick the 28 p for its size since i dont shoot wide very much
@chrisbogart6872 ай бұрын
For me, it is the $2000 question. That is the price delta. I really do not shoot wide angle that often. I have the 45P and the 90, but jumped on the new 75P which is a great lens and more suited to my work. having said that, I would lean to the 28P knowing its shortcomings.

Both great lenses. If you do a lot of astrophotography then the 25V is the preferable one.

25V makes a rather laud shutter sound when using leaf shutter- Is that true ? if so why didn't you mention that when shooting in a temple. Thank you
@mattgranger5 ай бұрын
It's louder than some of the XCD lenses. Quieter than a dslr. Not an issue in any situation I have been shooting.

@jaimeduncan61676 ай бұрын
🤣 Jokes aside taking into account that these are boutique products 1680$ for the 25mm and 3700$ is not that much. Remember that they have a built-in shutter. The Zeiss Otus 28mm f1.4 manual focus lens is $3990 (for Canon). The Otus is faster, but manual and less wide. The Fuji 23mm f4 MF lens is $2599 so it's not that expensive.
