I saw some guy yeet him 20 yards the other day, Pete was just trying to have dinner with his family and then *YEET*, a moment of terror mixed with acceptance flashed across Petes face mid air as you could see him simultaneously fear for his life and come to terms with the fact this is the way things are now...he didn't land well. We we're all seriously impressed with the distance.

For the dyno boost, you should do it like cheerleaders. Have the person being boosted jump off the ground instead of the hands, and then have the other person grab at the waist and push up as they jump. You can actually get a lot of extra height that way. Love when you guys do silly stuff like this though, especially since it still shows off your skill. I was pretty impressed how easily Pete held Tom's weight when Tom was hanging on his leg the first time.

Oh yeah its called „stavění" and we still use it sometimes. Basically some routes were opened this way and later on were free climbed, so it's like VIIc, RP IXa for example. Oh and there are competitions in stavění as well... :D

Thanks for the insight 🙂Absolutely love those photos of you guys over there creating towers of people trying to get to the hand holds. Brilliant!! When we climbed in Czech, unfortunately we're never actually got to put this tradition into practice. Another time 😀
@matyasbenesovsky4053 жыл бұрын
@@WideBoyz I’d recommend you to try to climb “Zvon” in Jizerske hory. This was first climbed in 1930’s and first ascent was made with “stavění” of 3 people on top of each other. Also there is really nice double crack with crux move in around 3 meters high before you can put any protection. You have to stand on crystals and pull yourself into the crack. Also the rock itself is really beautiful to look at, it actually look like a bell (Zvon in Czech) Maybe see you in better times?👀

Ha! Nice to see you guys know about the czech techniques! I myself am not much of a climber, but my parents live in the saxon swiss, which is on the German side of the border, just across from the Czech Republic. People still do that over there on the sandstone! Towering with several people is called "Baustelle" there, meaning "construction site".
@hidden_sense98393 жыл бұрын
I know it is late and you'll probably never read this: But I'd love to see a sequel and I'd have an idea how to make it more crackipedic: With a strong (and long) fabric tube that has cutouts for arms and legs (maybe fot the faces too, but that's optional ;). Of course ideally it would have to be with more than two people and I'm not sure if Mari is crazy enough to become the head of a crackipede. But imagine three (or more) people connected in what basically is a long humongous sock, climbing in the cellar.

Really fun one! The throwing thing is more of a positioning and timing thing. I've been an acrobat for many years, and I've seen guys the same size chuck each other a good 2.5-3 meters up. Obviously that's not going to happen in the middle of a multipitch, but maybe someday some acrobat/climber crossover athletes will do something of the like!
@WideBoyz3 жыл бұрын
we need some acrobat knowledge. our throwing was appalling, haha! defo didn't have the correct technique for that. i would absolutely love it, if a route actually required to use this throwing technique though, it'd be blummin briallint

So when is the new crack climbing book coming out with all these beautiful new techniques? Also, got any training advice for strengthening legs in offwidths? Or just making the jams less painful?
@WideBoyz3 жыл бұрын
for strngthening legs in offwidths, we always used legs in an offwidth position (like wide pony sort of thing), and then hands in hand jams on a seperate parallel crack to the offwidth. This way you could get more mileage on the legs at a lower intensity (cos you could pull on the hands more), so it felt like more enduarnace training for the legs. when we went back to normal offwidthing in stacks, the legs could handle it a bit better
