Seeing Toby's climb-ups look effortless compared to Pete, literally a professional climber, is really mind-boggling, the climb-up is one of those moves in parkour you often don't even notice, just seems to act as a link between flashier things, but that really puts it into a fresh context
@Finnspin_unicycles2 жыл бұрын
I think the climb up also shows one of the bigger differences between parkour and climbing. Style and speed matters quite a bit in parkour, while in climbing it's usually only about completing the challenge in whatever way possible.

Toby's enthusiasm for Pete's small successes is awesome to see Edit: Alright, alright. The consensus is: these things aren't small for average people. Pete's abilities as an elite athlete are tricking us into thinking a big box cat pre is easy

Oh my god, I'm so psyched for the next 2 vids
@hetistijmen2 жыл бұрын
I don't think they're small successes. I did some parkour as a kid/teenager in the early 2000s. Relative to climbing I think I got to a ~6B level. Enough to impress people not into the sport but easily reachable for fit people if they're dedicated. Got into bouldering a few years ago and I'm alright at it, but even with that history to my advantage I'm not sure I'd do any better than Pete is doing here. I'm not surprised though. Pete clearly has good body awareness and does well at mental challenges.

Pete & Toby is the collaboration we didn't know we needed, well done! Over the last decade or so I've realized that I was a bit too early when I discovered/invented many of these parkour moves 1979-1984 even though the parkour name hadn't been applied yet: We had no indoor climbing walls so we'd train quite a bit on buildings ("buildering"?), as well as obstacle course running. My favorite move was the fast way down a multi-story staircase, just leaning over while grabbing the rail then hitting the rail going the opposite direction half a story below and flipping around, then repeat. At the time I had been doing rock climbing, gymnastics and those obstacle courses.
@Will-kt5jk2 жыл бұрын
Seriously, as someone who recently started climbing & watches a lot of parkour, I think the movement disciplines combining are really interesting. Obviously you have people like Ed Scott (& many others) brining some gymnastics flare into PK, but I really like the functional movement styles like trad PK and climbing coming together - feels like a levelling up what humans can do to move around.
