Even if he pulled this off, the final would have been atrocious. The big 3 all hit a physical wall of needing perfect circumstances after winning at 36 and not being able to consecutively grind in majors deep in the tournament because they couldn't control the tear on the body. 5 setters are what defeated these guys. At this point like Nadal at Wimbledon if they play hard matches before the semifinals they are worn down.

Djokovic always has trouble in day matches. He won 20 semis and finals at AO(all night matches) before last year when he lost to Sinner in a day match. In 2016 Djoko had a 5 setter against Simon where he barely won in 5 then destroyed Fed in the semis. In 2009 Djokovic retired against Roddick in a day match with hot conditions. More than the injury he doesn't like the hot daytime conditions.
