Wie Böhmen noch bei Öst'reich war is an Austrian song from 1953. It nostalgically and romantically recalls the time "fifty years ago" when Bohemia and Moravia still
belonged to the Habsburg monarchy of Austria-Hungary, i.e. before the Treaty of Saint-Germain of 1919, which ended the First World War. Particular emphasis is placed on the close ties between the parts of the country through marriage relations, for example between Viennese and Brünn citizens, culinary exchanges ("Bafleisch", Skubanki) and reciprocal visits, for example by Bohemians in Bad Ischl or Viennese in Prague.

Fun or sad fact: this song was out in ca. 1967, and the next year it was the famous Prague Spring. Austria hosted some 160,000 refugees escaping Soviet and the following persecutions from Czechoslovakia. The act was largely supported by the Austrian public. They are still close, even after all those happened.

I think on the Austrian side people don't really want to touch this topic. There's a reason why the first modern (from 1918 onwards) history museum in Austria only opened in 2018. There's a reason why they put out fatansies like the Sissi movie.

Jezus Maria is used in situations when one is surprised by something frightening. It's not a curse word but considered by some Catholics as lacking respect for God.

Das Lied kam 1967 raus also 50 Jahre zurück haben wir 1917 da war die Donaumonarchie noch bestehend und wurde nach dem ersten Weltkrieg 1918 aufgelöst.

Just a doubt, im brazilian im learning german, why in the majority of german songs the letter "R" is pronounced as an russian R? I Always lerned that the german "R" is pronounced on the throat

Because the throat r is a very new thing. 1-2 generations ago the rolled r was more common.

If Franz Joseph pushed Austroslavism hard (basically: everyone against Hungarians), Federal Monarchy could be a thing. He could crown himself King of Bohemia, as he promised, very at least, so the monarchy could survive Great War as Austria + Bohemia and Moravia + Slovakia. Better than nothing, right?
