Went out today after watching this video yesterday, first cast and he exploded from underneath the pads! What a rush ! Honestly, I wasn't expecting a strike that fast and jerked the frog away before he could suck it down. Kept casting in the pads after that miss for another 15-20 minutes but nothing took. I'll be back. Great advice btw LFG ... thanks for making this video :)

Keep trying Stephanie, that frog catch will happen. I just started using frogs and had 5 strikes in a small creek, I missed every one of them. I'm going out again tomorrow to give it another try.

You can increase your hook up ratio by bending the hooks slightly up and out. It makes it more difficult with pads and weeds but hooks up almost every time.

What type of rod it your wife using? I've been looking for a heavy action spinning rod for when I take friends jigging for musky or just catching big fish but most don't know how to use a baitcaster. I would use a catfish rod but most are too thick , and not so sensitive because most are made of fibreglass. And TWH usually only carry Medium power spinning rods. No heavy spinning rods.

I disagree. It's not the "worst" for hookup, in fact treble hook baits are surprisingly in a higher spot on the "worst" hookup list. It just takes practice and a bit of patience. I RARELY miss a fish on a frog. This year alone has been a 50+ fish on a frog year and I have maybe "missed" 10 at most.
