How heartless can you be to abandon someone just because they have nothing to offer? Specially if that person is the one who brought you to this world. The ex wife has zero empathy and is very dangerous to let her teach your children. 100% they would abandon their parent because "he has nothing to offer", that is awful mindset and alarming attitude. Love is not transactional, love is not something that can be offered at a price. i am proud of OP for not letting this woman corrupt him any further.

@@ianmoritzplatapino3684exactly and relationships require money not just free attention from the father how heartless do they have to be to guilt trip a woman into loving them that way if she doesn't actually like him that way? What if she doesn't think of him romantically anymore and she doesn't want love anymore because she's tired of getting played here? She would be enabling you to be a bum if she just took you in and let you live off her you don't actually love her that way if you want your wife and kids to be without money. It's not just about money but that's the way of the world now love will never be better than money because you need money for a wedding, money to feed your children, a college fund in case your kids want to go to school, or travel with them some of these men don't think about these things long term they just pick whatever's in front of them then they wonder why there so unhappy and they cant find anyone because there not being true to themselves here this isn't 1942 you don't have to even get married if you can't afford it nobody's forcing them to find love if you find it great if you don't big deal just be greatful your alive and you have a roof over your head right now because if men didn't care about money the inflation wouldn't be so high in the first place some of the biggest gold diggers on the planet are men some of them will park it at there parents house for 50 years until the mom or dad passes away just to aquire the house they were living in. I watched some of these guys throw their mamas into nursing homes too when they got tired of dealing with them. Then they didn't make it in time to see her this kind of pissed me off too because that means he would probably do that toe too if I passed away it seems more peaceful to die alone. Love is also an action and a feeling and if it's not for you just stop looking for it you won't find it by aggressively looking for it. The divorce papers were a manipulation tactic. It was to scare him into abandoning his father to fight for her and the marriage (hence the reaction when he signed them). This one made me tear up. My folks aren't rich by any means but they've always been good to me. I lost my mom last year to breast cancer, she was diagnosed in 2021 and we got one more year with her thanks to treatment. I put my life on hold to help dad take care of her and he was so overwhelmed and stressed that it probably took several years off what's left of his life. Now, I'm taking care of him. Just making sure what time he has left is as comfortable as it can be. I can't imagine being so unfathomably soulless as this wench towards your own parents.
@zachboyd4749
@zachboyd4749 7 ай бұрын
You are a remarkable son, offering to take care of him like that, and I can’t express my remorse for both yours and his loss. You Mom sounded like an incredible person, you should both be proud to have called her your family. Best words of advice I can give is to show your Dad that you and whatever family you have still love and value him, that even though his wife has passed there are others in his life that still cherish him. Not trying to downplay or distract from the loss in any way, that would be disrespectful and insulting to your Mom, but letting him know he’s never alone and that he still has people that love and appreciate him. Give him a reason to have the will to continue until he’s properly ready to rest, don’t let him drown himself with despair. My Grandpa was diagnosed with cancer when I was just starting high school. When he was diagnosed, the docs said he had 3 weeks to live, but that son of a gun lasted over 2 years. (My Grandpa was a Marine, he didn’t know the meaning of surrender!) One of the reasons I think he lasted so long (besides my Grandma, his treatments, and his pure Leatherneck stubbornness) is that we as a family let him know that we all loved him and still wanted to be with him as much as we could. He never let his negativity or his sadness over his prognosis affect him, instead he focused on the family that was there to support him and enjoying every last second he could get with them. As well, there were still milestones in his grandchildren’s lives that he was determined not to miss under any circumstances. The man was not well at all, but he made it. Every single one that warranted a family get together, he was there in person. Once he had been present for everything he could, once he had accomplished everything he had set out to do, he finally decided to end the fight. He let go willingly as he was tired and was satisfied he had fought the good fight, and rather than passing in despair and hopelessness, he went peacefully and happily while surrounded by loved ones. Death isn’t something to fear or dread as it happens to all of us, but do not let your Dad get consumed by his grief and allow him to pass in his heartbreak. Try to do whatever you can to be sure that he lives the rest of his days surrounded by happiness, appreciation, and love. Not only will it probably significantly increase his remaining time, but when the time does come he won’t go in despair or sadness. That’s the real tragedy of death, not going when you’re ready or passing because of heartache or depression. Do what you can to be sure that, when the time comes, he’s happy and satisfied rather then consumed with grief, and enjoy and cherish every last moment you can with him.

She isn't supportive of her husband when his father is dying, files for divorce, then comes crawling back trying to manipulate to weasel her way into money. Change the prenuptial agreement (assuming there was one) a year after divorce... that's not really how that works. And even if it was, a single party can't alter a contract without the notarized consent of the other party. Besides, inheritance is not generally considered a "marital asset" to be divided in a divorce, in most jurisdictions, she wouldn't have any lawful claim to it anyway. She could have a claim to a portion of his income under very specific circumstances, but it sounds like none of them are in play here. And he has a company... he could pay himself a salary of $1 a year and let her fight for a fraction of that, lol. His stake in the company comes with a fiduciary duty which he is bound to uphold and supersedes any personal claims. It was in a trust, so it's not likely a proprietorship. She really can't touch his money or the company. He has sole custody, so she doesn't get child support. In fact, despite his higher wealth, he could force her to pay him child support under many circumstances, unless she has forfeited all parental rights, in which case such a claim is rendered moot anyway. As for alimony, the divorce is settled. That's it, it's done. If she's not getting any now, she won't ever. And even then, if by some crazy logic she could get alimony after the settlement, she would be entitled to very little, and it's equally likely she might end up owing OP instead of him owing her. Alimony is for when one sustains financial damages as a result of mutual decisions in a marriage. Let's say a woman is a nurse, but she and her husband agree she should take a break from her career for 10 years after the birth of their first child and become a stay-at-home mom. When she rejoins the workforce, she will be earning a lot less than she would have, had she stuck with the career. She's likely making $30k-$40k less than she otherwise would have, and minus child care expenses, that difference in income would be split between the two of them who both consented to that career decision. Alimony is not arbitrary, it's balancing the assets which may have been disproportionately affected by the marriage. It is intended to be "fair" despite what TV tells us, lol. But in OP's story, there is no indication that their marriage led to any disparity of financial equity, so she wouldn't be entitled to anything. But if OP's career took a hit because of the marriage, he may have a claim against her (though it would likely not be worth the time and expense to pursue it, and again, the divorce is already settled, so that window is closed). OP won, Ex-Wife lost. If he wanted to put salt in the wound, his best recourse would be to ask out one of her close friends. That would piss her off. But that's also incredibly petty and undignified.

@Arkryal
@Arkryal 8 ай бұрын
@@VoiceOfTheEmperorOk, I misunderstood, but that makes more sense. Thanks for clarifying. Although I will say that while one-sided prenups do exist, they're generally pretty rare. If it's too much to one side the courts may raise an eyebrow over it and they can be superseded in some cases if it's thought there wasn't sufficient understanding by one party or was agreed to under duress. They do need to be fairly reasonable to be enforceable, or you'll end up spending way more in court arguing over it than what it could save you, lol. As long as it's reasonable, it's generally fine. But also keep in mind a prenup is about a lot more than just "in case of divorce". There are lots of other things that can be spelled out there. For example, let's say your brother is a world-class surgeon and your spouse doesn't believe in medicine. As your spouse, they can make medical decisions for you if you are incapacitated. So you could use this to affirm you are deferring those decisions to your brother instead. It's not the same as giving your brother medical power of attorney, but would allow him to contest decisions of the spouse in the absence of that power. You're declaring and they are acknowledging that this marriage does not confer that privilege. Or imagine you have a disabled sibling whose care is administrated by an account (not established as a trust), of which you are the custodian. You could use a prenup to keep a spouse financially separated from those funds in some ways to protect it. The BIGGEST one is responsibility for pre-marital debts. If your spouse has $200k in student loans, you can spell out that YOU, by virtue of the marriage are taking no responsibility for the servicing of those debts. So many people marry to offload debts on a partner, and this is your first line of defense against that. There's actually a lot that can go into a prenup beyond things pertaining to division of assets. Nearly everyone benefits from a prenup in some way. Sadly, people think they're just about what happens in divorce, and they get offended by the mention of it. If they really understood what they were, a lot of people would be a lot happier, lol. It's always best to use them in good faith and equitably, but you're right, everyone should have one, and understand it and agree to the terms before marriage. It can solve a lot of problems, or at least make disputes common in marriage more clear and easier to address by allocating accountability first.

This woman really doesnt understand the concept of filial piety. Even though the dad 'removed' OP from his will doesn't mean he is disowned. Plus, one's relationship with their parents should be one of love, regardless of finances, and OP understood that, caring for his father no matter what happened in the past. And he got rewarded in the most wholesome and beautiful way, as his dad was always proud of him.

Dude deserves an extra special spot in Heaven. Meanwhile the absurdly evil ex with her heart of ice deserves an extra special spot in Hell. Torments her husband in an attempt to drive a wedge between him and his dying father, abandons her children, shows zero remorse or regret at all until the millions show up and she sees her easy money opportunity. Truly a sickening creature, and being free from her is worth more than any of the wealth he received.

That solution goes in, comes out, and has a sitting time. Its a long, and physically draining process.
