I feel bad for Ash. Sounds like Mommy made a mini me out of her and sabotaged any attempt to choose a different path. Some women do that. They view their daughters as do-overs and force them to live the same life, but better. Now the only semi healthy parent Ash ever known has disowned her for her mother's sins while she's pregnant. Her not wanting to lie and marry a guy for money is a glimmer of hope. If someone gets that girl far FAR away from her mother, she might make it and do ok with her kid. It will not happen if Marissa stays involved though. They are a year or two out from Ash being pimped by her mother if things continue.
@Im_Just_Here2487 ай бұрын
Thank you I’m so glad someone else said it. I don’t know why people think men are the problems now days when women are openly sleeping with men and that’s why men act the way they do because they know some woman will eventually sleep with them and I’ve heard so many stories of past girls who were escorts or pornstars and it was other women to egged them on. Men are partially to blame but if women didn’t egg girls on to sleep around for money or to use their looks they probably wouldn’t have gotten into that business. All I’m saying is we’d have a lot more self respecting women and on top of that mentally healthy women who didn’t have depression because of regrets of the past if women actually supported women when it came to careers. I know so many girls who’s moms are against them having a career that there have been times where I financially supported them so they wouldn’t go into a selling their body job.

Exactly, Marissa messed Ash up really bad, and the dad is so manipulative too
@asmallauthor4203Ай бұрын
Yeah, that’s my opinion on this too. Ash is definitely no saint and doesn’t get 100% amnesty for being a manipulative piece of garbage. But this does certainly nonetheless raises questions about whether her own personality is the product of nurture or nature. Never mind the fact that, as you pointed out, she certainly didn’t deserve her only paternal figure disowning her for not being his biological daughter. And the same definitely extends to Ash’s son/daughter also suffering from this.

"I was concerned that the woman who was the bane of my existence might get a little thirsty at her yoga class." I think it might be that his mom unintentionally messed him up. While done with good intentions, she kept repeating "your father's a good man" no matter how neglectful the dad was, then showered her son with love. Psychologically, this makes a conflicting core belief in the child, where his dad is an AH and a good man at the same time. And as the mother passed away beloved by the child, it would reinforce that core belief as challenging it would mean challenging all the fond memories OP has of his mom. It would account for all the extra details as every interaction with his dad is causing his mind to juggle two different narratives. And as the dad was tied to the hip to step-moo and step-skank, the same ideology would apply to them too.

This. She didn't deserve to be groomed into that life. If Marissa had been a MOTHER she could have made HELLA money in art. My mom told me art was a bad decision to pursue. There are commission artists making bank in this day and age
