Got to give it up is an amazing song of Phil sadly unable to heed his own advice and predicting his own demise . Cowboy song live in Sydney is great Phil wrote so many great songs . in the 12 years thin lizzy existed they released 12 albums and in the 3 years following before his death he put out 2 solo records and has a hoard of unreleased music that surfaced over the years . greatest irish rock star to ever exist .

A "Thin Lizzy" is a very thinly rolled joint. My wife and I saw Thin Lizzy live about 10 times, they were a great band to see. And yes I'm showing my age, we also saw Queen 5 times. My Oldest daughter blames me for sort of naming our youngest grand daughter 3 years ago. When I held her for the first time I started sing the Thin Lizzy song "Sarah" to her, Phil Lynott wrote that to his own daughter, oops. When I was in the Royal Marine Commandos, we would get back from a posting and all you could hear was "The boys are back in town" coming from all the PA speakers at the Barracks. And yes I'm old.....

Phil Lynott was Irish and one of the very few black musicians in Ireland back in the seventies (Back then there were very few black people in Ireland). They have a statue of him in Dublin. Many hits in the UK Charts. "Whiskey in the Jar" "The Boys Are Back in Town" "Jailbreak" "Cowboy Song" "Dancing in the Moonlight (It's Caught Me in Its Spotlight)" "Waiting for an Alibi" "Do Anything You Want To" "Sarah" "Killer on the Loose" "Chinatown" "Cold Sweat" not forgetting Parisienne Walkways recorded and Co written with Gary Moore. The opening line, "I remember Paris in '49", was an amendment of the line as it appeared in the original sheet music - "I remember Paris in the fall tonight" - and refers to Phil's missing father, Cecil Paris, and his birth-year, 1949. A lament for the father he never had, dressed up in romantic nostalgia.

Lynott was born in 1949 to an Irish mother and a father who was from Guyana in the West Indies and his mother and they met in England were they had both gone to seek work. Whilst the father sent money it was his mother who raised Lynott and his first years were spent in England but after he'd experienced racism for being of mixed race his mother sent him to live with his Irish grandparents in Ireland were he had from his own accounts a very happy upbringing and his grandfather provided him with a father figure. From all accounts Lynott had a great and loving family and although feeling different loved being Irish and compared himself to a pint of Guinness, black and Irish. Sadly Lynott developed a drink and drug problem which eventually caused him to collapse at home on Xmas Day 1985 and after being taken to hospital he was diagnosed as suffering from septicaemia, his conditioned worsened and after being put on a ventilator he died of pneumonia and heart failure caused by the septicaemia 10 days after being admitted.

The beginning is funny cause they originally were going to call the band "Tin Lizzie" after a comic strip. Then Phil said, " lets do it "Thin Lizzy" because the Irish people will still pronounce it like "tin" and do a "y" instead of "ie" just to make it a little more different. Of course, you gotta do "The Rocker" from their 3rd album. The original version. Not edited.

Thin Lizzy is an Irish band and I believe the band chose "Thin" instead of "Tin" because Irish often do not pronounced the "H" when it's "TH" so the word "thin" would sound like "tin" anyway. I watch a number of Irish KZbinrs, mostly on the Try Channel and the old Facts channel and you can hear sometimes they do not pronounce the "H". Just a fun bit of trivia, which may or may not be true. However, Thin Lizzy is a really good band which only had a few hits in America but much bigger in Great Britain. I didn't dig into their catalog until many years later.

there is black people in metal, but not many. tony macalpine is an ultimate guitar virtuoso of the highest order. he plays jazz, fusion, classical and neo classical metal shred. he also play the piano and keyboards like a god. tosin abasi of animals as leaders. he is a guitar god in the progressive metal, extreme tech and djent genres. greg howe is a guitar, god, a bass god and he has played with many of the biggest artists in the world including touring with michael jackson. he is a neoclassical metal shredder in the likes the world has rarely seen. my favorite album of neoclassical metal is vitalij kuprij high definition. greg howe play all the guitars and bass on the album. it is a milestone of neoclassical metal shred.

Phil used to shoot heroin in his feet so no one would see . It took him away from us far too young . The live footage you watched was their last tour and he and the guitar player with shorter hair were in the throws of a serious heroin addiction You can see the bloating in Phil's face (his liver was not doing too well). The guitar player survived . They are worth checking out more .
