When the strict mom came back she refused to implement the new changes and went back to controling their lives. Years later one of the sons snapped and shot his mom and one of his brother. Yeah, but young black boys don’t have the luxury to make mistakes, without becoming a number in the system more often than not. The child is either guaranteed a record or being put in a body bag. While I agree, that the parents need to loosen up a bit, I do not blame them for parenting out of fear. Their militant mindset may be the very thing that kept these young men alive and out of the system. We can only hope that they didn’t become a statistic.

Eh, I think it needs to be an issue of degrees, as a veteran. You make the active choice to join; maybe not always an educated choice, but you decide. Kids can't make that choice, and basic is about breaking someone down and rebuilding them to fit the military mold. I've straight up had mild trauma flashbacks to things screamed at me in basic; that's just... the way brains work. Raising a kid in that would be abusive, hands down. Honestly I’m glad the nice black lady got to hit the racist “person” in the last scene before they got separated, makes me so mad how some people still think that way even in 2022 😐

It's crazy how racist people live and act almost exactly how they say that the people they use slurs to describe live and act And they say that they aren't saying those things about any race in particular, it's just a coincidence that certain races ac like that
