There is a final update to this. The ex and him signed the final papers for their divorce. I believe she was stalling or trying to get him to not go through the divorce as she kept calling and refuse to return any of his attorney calls. Eventually things got back on track and she knew she cant stop it so its done. Also some of her circle of friends were dropped by their partners after op called and informed them that they are cheaters. They were sus but op calling them made them confront them.

(And I was apologizing to my then husband because I was worried I might give it to him. Oy.) My doctor never told me that these were sexually transmitted infections, but did eventually ask me if our relationship was monogamous. I assured him that it was. Ended up, that it most assuredly was not! 😂 I don’t care if you trust him 100%, get tested. Because of my ignorance and trust, I had numerous infections deep in my cervix and then later, cervical cancer. Listen to this nurse 👆🏼, she’s right!

She asked for "therapy". In my humble opinion, it's a gaslighting technique where the guilty party blames the victim during and at the end of therapy. In this case, based on the current social climate, wifezilla will claim any type of "victim" card she can use against the husband. I will not be surprised if she claims she was just affirming her sexuality and that she still loves him.

There was another reddit story like this but the guy found his wife in bed with the guy. They were supposed to go on vacation that day and she goes out with her friend and doesn’t come back. He heads to the friends house because he thought they were stayed since it started snowing. He shows up and finds his wife LAYING on this dudes chest and beats the shit out of the guy. He told his wife she had 5 min to get in the car or to not bother coming back. His WHOLE marriage was a fucking lie. After she had their first kid she fell into postpartum depression and the only person who could help her was her best friend who took her out 3-4 times a week for “girls night”. She said she didn’t know why she did it but she gave a bartender a blowjob one night and another guy she fucked and then basically stopped feeling guilty. From that point on for the next like 3 years she would go out 2-3 times a week and fuck another random stranger. Never the same guys twice. One and done. The poor husband gets a SHARK for a lawyer though and she helps him basically find out who and where. He told his lawyer to stop looking when they reach 50 different guys. They did a paternity test on his daughter who was born after this shit show started and surprise she is not his. They finally meet each other in the lawyers office to mediate the divorce and to keep things civil. His wife confessed to knowing that his daughter wasn’t his and that she DIDNT know who the father was. There were too many men to be sure. The husband basically throws her out, they live in at fault state, and with the evidence he had they got him full custody of both kids. The wife basically never expected to get caught and lost all her friends (besides the one helping her cheat) and her parents, who threw her out after they heard the full details of her “escapades”. The husband gave a year update and said he was doing good and had just been him and his kids. He had been tentatively dating a nice lady he met in a support group but swore never to marry again. The now ex wife basically having nuked her life and literally fled the country and is now living in Australia. As far as stories go, that was probably the worst one I had EVER read. This video is a close second now.

The best response I’ve ever read on Reddit to finding a divorce lawyer because of a cheating spouse. The one who had been cheated on got a consultation with every divorce lawyer in the city so his soon to be ex couldn’t hire them because it would be a conflict of interest apparently. She had to get another lawyer that was out of state, they lived close to the border of their state, and had to pay double the price for it being across state lines. This being his plan from the beginning.

When confronted he told me THEN he didn't want kids. (Bit late) I told him to get his crap tougher while he tried to tell me we should shove the kids off on my parents. Two days after this blow out, I see a post on FB that's got my then hubby's name on it. "So excited to be having a baby with (his name here)" and ultrasound photos. I packed the kids up and left. He tried going after full custody of the kids he claimed he didn't want, but failed miserably when he didn't know their birthdays, or even their full names. Hello! Psychologist with a PhD in mental health psychology here (although I do not speak for all psychologists and my knowledge is based in UK practice). We actually don't use the term 'sociopath' - sociopathy hasn't actually been the correct term for a long time now, since the 1980s. I personally blame the BBC Sherlock for that misinformation being spread, although I'm sure there are many reasons...but Sherlock is my personal nemesis. When people talk about sociopathy in social media these days, what they usually mean these days is either something called Antisocial Personality Disorder (ASPD) or Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD). These are characterised by some of the things we assigned to sociopathy back in the day. For example, ASPD has that lack of empathy, and a persistent and enduring pattern of violating the rights of others, and NPD has things like fragile self-esteem, a need for admiration, believing that they are somehow special and unique and better than everyone else. I think something that is VERY important to note is that these are personality disorders. They often emerge in adolescence and into early adulthood, and some people can identify it in themselves and seek help. Some people can manage personality disorders really well, and others really can't. However, sometimes, people absolutely assign these sorts of disorders to people who are simply (technical term incoming) Complete Arseholes. It's important to know that people can have narcissistic behaviours without having NPD, and people can have a lack of empathy without having ASPD. It's always best not to equate them on a 1:1. At the end of the day, we only know what has been limited to two posts, and I'd need to have some VERY in-depth conversations and assessments with a person to diagnose anything, but I would say that this person should be assessed for NPD. I'm not saying that she DOES have NPD, but an assessment would help to rule it out or confirm it either way, as she does seem to want to control how people perceive her (with the anger at her husband for revealing her cheating) and she does seem to believe she is 'special' and 'should' be able to do whatever she wants. She could, however, be a Complete Arsehole. It is possible. Some people behave badly because they have disorders that are unmanaged. Some people behave badly because they are horrible. This is a ridiculously long comment - and the issue is VERY complex and nuanced, so again please don't take this as gospel, because it is so very complicated. But I hope this was informative and useful!! With love, A Fellow Potato (also I feel like I have the authority to grant Charlotte an honorary PhD in Petty)

I do believe that we, as a society, have a large misunderstanding of mental health even though there has been such a push to take away away any stigma attached to the subject. There hasn't been enough of a push for education. People still equate symptoms to disease. The lack of education of mental health has played rise to throwing the terminology around freely like a southerner calling everyone sweetheart. Another consequence that plagues social media, especially Tik Tok, is the pretenders who get away with it often. All because people are seemingly okay with being ignorant about it.
@walle_womble3 ай бұрын
But a mental disorder does not excuse a person from being an asshole, whether it's diagnosed or not. I'm sorry but a person cannot go around doing assholly things and just blame it on their diagnosis.
@qhluvr773 ай бұрын
Thanks for the great explanations, I learned some things. I also agree with the other reply in that having a diagnosis is not an excuse, but I would like to say that having a diagnosis, of any sort, is an explanation, not an excuse. My niece and nephew both have Asperger syndrome, nephew has never used it as either an explanation for why he is ‘different’ or an excuse. Niece was diagnosed as an adult and now EVERYTHING that isn’t fantastic in her life is because of the Asperger’s, not her, and includes all her choices and actions before diagnosis as not her fault because she had Asperger’s ( even if she didn’t know it).

I was married once, we were very young. 19 going on 20. My husband was a loving man. I know he trusted and loved me, at one point. Before he turned 21 and started going out to bars and clubs. We lived only a few blocks from the main area where most of these places were in our town, so it was pretty easy to get there, even though he ended up driving most of the time. So, about 3 or 4 months after his 21st bday, he sat me down and said he loved me and wanted to stay married, but that he wanted an OPEN relationship. I guess drunk chick's that threw themselves at just anyone was too tempting. Of course, I said no, and was very upset. He promised he would not sleep with anyone else if I said no, but I am positive he had already cheated on me. At this point we had 2 young children under 3 years old, and dude I TRUSTED him. Then, I lost a new job I was supposed to start one morning because he had driven MY car to the bar the night previous and wasn't back to be with our kids, and so I could have use of my car to get to the new job. He got back hours later, still kinda drunk, and wouldn't answer my questions. He was smiling like an idiot and mumbling incoherently, and just went right to bed. I checked my car. The armrest that separated the driver and passenger seat was up. There was sand all over the place. I would find out later that he had gone skinny dipping with one of the skanks that worked at the one strip club downtown, and had had s*x in the front seat of my car. A few days later I had gotten a family member to watch our kids for a half hour, because there was a show on TV that he said he wanted me to remind him of when it started, so I was headed to his friends place, where he said he was playing video games at. At this time neither of us had cell phones. There were the Nokia Tracfones, and the other cell phones were ones you paid big money for, and we just couldn't afford them. I get to his friends apartment, and a girl in lingerie opened the door. Inside was another scantily clad girl, and my husband and his friend, who were wearing only boxers. Really, I recall getting so dizzy, then tunnel vision, and I only remember snippets because my brain could not understand. The girls ran out of the room, crying and acting pitiful and scared. I'm sure I did not look pleased, and while I've been told I can be intimidating I think they were just playing it up. I wish I had gone after them and yanked them around by thier hair a bit, but I remember telling them that I didn't really blame them. They probably knew he was married but didn't know me and didn't care. I'm not sure how the conversation with my husband went, but I can guess. I know I was so angry that I could hardly breathe. I stormed out after screaming at him. His friend, who I also felt betrayed by because I thought we were friends, was trying to calm me and saying things like 'it's just s*x'. Soon after, I went to the courthouse and did ALL the paperwork, and paid, for the divorce myself. There were many other instances that still shock me now, but why hold on? Why stay in a marriage with someone who clearly did not know what love was anymore, and didn't care enough about me to even be safe while out cheating? Our kids are 23 and 24 now. There's been ups and downs but I think taking the fastest way out of that relationship in a fairly brief time was the best thing that could have happened. It sure did hurt. I already had dealt with self esteem issues since before I knew what those words mean, and I was deeply heartbroken because I loved him so much. He had been so sweet to me. I had trouble trusting men for so long after, and still probably do, which is why I am focusing on myself and my career and my children now. This was all about 20 years ago now though, and I am LONG over him, even though that breach of trust changed something in me. I feel awful for those that have to go through infidelity and all the downfalls of a toxic partner. Save yourselves! You are FAR better off without them, believe me!! Don't wake up every day wondering if you are the only one, and walk around with a rock in your gut and your heart slowly disintegrating. Especially if you have kids! Save them from watching fights, crying, etc...Don't let them think this is how relationships are, show them that both thier parents made smart decisions for everyone, even if it hurts for a littlewhile. No one deserves to be in unnecessary emotional pain everyday, because eventually it could escalate, then you might be on one of the true crime channels on YT, for sh*t that'll land someone in jail for the rest of thier lives, lol.

Exactly my thoughts. I dealt with a serial cheater before and this made me think of him right away. Leaving him was the best thing I did. No hate to him, he clearly has issues he needs to work out but mentally I’ve been better off without him. Glad this guy got out right away!

You could say sociopathic behavior, possibly, but not dub her a sociopath. She has to meet certain criteria to earn that label.
@j.jtilling17223 ай бұрын
I would say narcissist. People jump to use narcissist or narcissistic too often and usually don't use it correctly. But this particular woman was definitely a narcissist. She only thought of herself. Everyone was right when they said she cried for how people would judge her not what she was loosing. Because in her mind she was loosing face and a "Marriage". Not the person she was married to. It takes a lot of time to heal from what narcissistic people do to you too. Especially to walk away and understand they didn't care about you, just what you gave them on a daily basis. They eventually get angry at you, it's when this proper anger (not the staged anger they express in the early stages) comes through that they finally leave you alone. They let go because they've finally come to terms that they've lost their meal ticket and need to find a new one.
@HotaruHikai3 ай бұрын
@@j.jtilling1722 Sociopathy and Narcissism go hand in hand, you can have a narcissist that isn't a sociopath but all Sociopaths are Narcissists. at the very least yes she is a Narcissist, but its the lack of empathy, the quick switch emotions that sociopaths do when they realize they are expected to feel certain things, and what feels like the inability to understand social norms. (you don't just go to sleep for like 12 hours after telling your husband point blank you cheated) that make me feel like she is a sociopath.
@raraavis77823 ай бұрын
What I find weird, is that he never mentions any 'off' behavior on her part aside from the cheating. If she was a Narcissist, let alone a Sociopath, the red flags should be obvious at least in hindsight. And usually people in that kind of situation suddenly start seing all the red flags they previously ignored, because the were still in love with that person. But well, maybe he was still too much in shock. Still. There are people that are addicted to cheating, the same way people are addicted to gambling. It's completely irrational and dangerous behavior when looking at it from the outside, but they can't seem to stop themselves even though they know it's wrong and harmful. Her being drunk or possibly on some kind of substance when she was caught, kinda points to that. She made no attempt to hide what happened. She also readily admitted to having cheated before, which isn't at all typical for the calculating, manipulative behavior of someone with said personality disorders. She also didn't try to gaslight him into somehow being responsible for her cheating (by neglecting her or such). I don't know. But to me, she seems more like someone whose addiction behavior spiraled out of control than someone with a personality disorder.

Please be kind to yourself and know that it's also normal to go through emotional rollercoasters especially the first few years. I know this isn't the same and our experiences are very different, but when I found out my ex of 7 years cheated on me, it took a long time before I could listen to music and even longer for specific songs. I'm a psych major, getting drunk/high doesn't make you a different person, it only allows you to reveal your true character more unapologetically, but it doesn't change you. Cheating is a moral failing, if that moral failing isn't in you, no matter how inebriated you are, you won't cheat. The saying "drunk words speak sober heart" is pretty accurate. I agree, the women from the first story being so comfortable hurting her husband and cheating almost definitely means that she's cheated before and has gone through the initial guilt and remorse, so her reaction to it is jaded, which is why she had a "it's no big deal" attitude. It seems like she uses s*x to show love or affection, maybe she was abused and now feels that s*x is love, or maybe she has low self-worth and feels that s*x is the only thing she has to offer, or maybe she has an addiction or mental health problem, either way she needs therapy and lots of self-work. If anyone is ever cheated on and the person has this type of jaded reaction, it's highly likely they've cheated before. Sidenote, that ring is so beautiful, Congratulations! *PS: Not sociopathic behavior, more narcissistic. A sociopath would try to twist this into the victim's fault they cheated and make jabs to try destroy the last bit of the victim's self-esteem, or make threats like "you'll never find anyone as good as me, you didn't deserve me," they often switch moods quickly going from threats to trying to charm, they're also often dominant and have no regard for social rules or laws, they don't take no for an answer. A narcissist is going to cry for their own feelings surrounding a divorce, a sociopath isn't going to care about feelings and move onto their next victim without a care.*

He was waiting for her because somebody had to take care of the kids before he went to work ( military- so being late was really not an option). She came inside sat down on the bed and said, " I f+%ked a guy" and with that she went to bed. He had to call his work and take the day off because who was going to take care of the kids? But then again she was verbally and physically abusive throughout their entire marriage so he was literally programmed to accept whatever she did and never ask questions.

Hey Charlotte! Sober alcoholic here and sex addict who has recovered through therapy. I have many years of sobriety under my belt. And I can say from experience that alcohol does turn people into someone completely different. Someone they themselves usually hate. I cheated on my ex husband. This over 8 years ago just before our divorce and just before I got sober. I drank more because I hated myself when I was sober. When I was drunk like the woman in that story I didn't care. She likely was drunk when she came home and so didn't care. The moment she woke up sober all those feelings of self hate came back. Guaranteed she feels remorse and hates herself and maybe doesn't know how to change. She may very well also be a sex addict. Good on OP for divorcing her because she needs to take that self healing journey alone. But I hope like me she finds a new and amazing life for herself maybe alcohol free and definitely with a good amount of therapy!

She kept a pair of jeans in her locker to change into at school. One time she got super crazy with her rebellion and "accidentally" got bleach on the tips of her hair while doing laundry so she'd have a valid excuse to cut her hair. It was only about an inch, her hair was below her butt, it wasn't noticeable but it gave her some joy. Men do that, too. It makes sense if people learn early that giggity is a stand-in for emotional trust, physical safety, and psychological intimacy. Think of the extreme where some abuse survivors get told they are irresistible to their abusers so the survivor essentially caused the abuse. They might believe physical intimacy is the closest they can get to someone and thus a way to manipulate them. In the less extreme case, when partners just disregard any attempt at self-control and allow their own indulgences often enough, maybe they figure the person they’re already with can’t say no to them either. Either way, IMHO giggity EASILY becomes a source of power and currency for getting what someone wants. 🤷🏽♀️

Ended up leaving because I was young and was scared I wasn't enough for him but I've never looked back to guys that don't treat me the way I should be since. And I am now happily married to a guy that would rather stay home and play video games than anything and if he goes out anywhere he always wants me to go with him. I knew it, but the icing on the cake was when she said it wasn't the first time! I feel so heartbroken for him.

There's two kinds of I'm sorry: 1. I'm sorry I hurt you vs. 2. I'm sorry I got caught.

There's also "I'm sorry IF I hurt you" ... fake as$ apology to look out for & I also used it in customer service to calm customers down & then be able to sell products to them. I was ace at selling.

My former spouse of 15 years would not keep a job - he was in corrections and would stay maybe a year then want to move to another state. First it was Texas, taking along two toddlers. Next was Colorado. A girl he worked with called and told me he had been on the roof of the jail with a coworker. I went to his work early and when he got off I watched him get in a car with another woman and was hugging and kissing. I blew the horn, he jumped out and in and said he was "comforting her" as she had a bad marriage and I said evidently so do we. He apologized a lot. Next move was to FL, had two more children. He came home and told me his coworkers made fun of him because I didn't look like a model. I asked him how when I never get to leave the house. One week after our 4th was born he decided we were to go to Nebraska. He went to a group shelter thing at first, drove him up (with 4 kids in the car) and drove back, kept working, packing, etc. He tells me a coworker at work let him stay with him. I move up with the moving truck and not even a hug. He was very standoffish. The guys wife was Asian, a thing he always liked. I finally asked him so what happened and he said it wasn't s*x, she just tooted the horn and he woke up a FEW TIMES and she lived 2 doors away and had the never to come over!!! Her husband eventually left her. I said that's it, I'm moving back to WV and we all did. He was working for the state police and said if I let him quit and go back to college and finish, he would work and let me quit (worked at a hospital 10 hour days 7 days a week, he was basically the babysitter). So he started back and I kept getting early morning calls from a woman. He said it was a woman he was tutoring (he was a D student at best). I started at the same college in addition to work. She left notes threatening me on my truck. At this point we both had our own apartments at the school. My oldest said he came home and caught him with said woman and she was learning to play the *recorder* and she said it wasn't s*x really..long story short I moved to FL, he went to live with his mom, played the field, got the woman to come down there (and he had given her the car I left him) and rented her another car to go home to WV to get stuff and come back and she ended up calling him to come get it, it's at Kroger. Guess who he asked to take him after calling me every name in the book to his family? I had remarried by this time. He is a hobos*xual, going from woman to woman, married a women with a good income and put her in bankruptcy and ended up taking another girlfriend to his wife's house to get his things. He's in his 60s now and still the same routine, still talks rash about me (haven't spoken to him since 2009) and even the kids can't stand him for things he has done. p.s. his latest girlfriend looks like a dude with a bad haircut and is very foul mouthed. He goes from woman to woman until they ask him to help pay the bills then he leaves, he quit working in 1995 by the way. It was like getting rid of a boil on your tushy. Met him in 1980 and he is still a you-know-what and tells everybody it was my fault. When his mother was diagnosed with cancer, he left her in the hospital and moved many states away and even though she was never good to me, my husband and I moved her in and took care of her until she passed.

Thanks for "hobosexual"😅😅. I'd heard of homosocial (likes/loves men for everything except "giggity") but that was a new one. Visually I'm picturing Tom Sawyer/Huck Finn with his belongings tied up in a coloured paisley handkerchief on his "stick" slung over his shoulder.

Whoa, that's a lot to have put up with for so long, and I'm so glad Mr. Hobo-sexual is now your 'was'-band. It's awesome that you've maintained a good sense of humor - the situation isn't funny, but the way you tell it cracks me up: "It was like getting rid of a boil on your tushy." Laughter can truly be the best medicine! Also, it was very kind of you & your husband to have taken in your ex-MIL in her time of need despite a shortage of kindness from her.

Your ex-husband sounds a little like my father. My father was a narcissist, and would move into women’s houses with them. My brother and I called him “the gigolo.” He died several years ago. He’d decided to get his teeth pulled so he could get full dentures, and his dentist warned him repeatedly that he could get an infection from the procedure, which would have been very bad, as he had a compromised immune system. Well. He DID get an infection, which turned into sepsis, which killed him. My brother found a letter in his effects that he’d written but not sent to his dentist, blaming the dentist for killing him.🙄 🤦♀️ Yep. Nothing was EVER Dad’s fault. 🙄

A word of practical advice: In a situation like this, don't bother canceling subscriptions, because some of them can be tricky to get out of. Just call the credit card company and tell them your card was stolen. They'll cancel the card and issue you one with a new number. That way, your account can't be used for other things by your ex, who might have made note of the info. :)
@JoeTyria3 ай бұрын
And be sure they turn the Visa Updater OFF. Otherwise, they still might get your updated card number(s).

17:49 Charlotte, my ex was diagnosed with NPD (Narcissistic Personality Disorder) and the whole thing about her being ambivalent that night, then throwing a crying fit the next morning- definitely is Narcissistic or Sociopathic behavior. That doesn’t make them have a diagnosis, only having this behavior consistently and without improvement really tells for sure. But yeah, they don’t have remorse because they don’t have empathy. They cry as a result of getting caught, not because they feel bad about what they did, but because they have been taught that it’s the correct behavioral response they are supposed to express after getting caught.

I work in a lab and I’ve seen a few people come in for testing. They either had suspicions or they had confirmation oooorr the marriage was open and everyone wanted to be sure they were working with a clean slate so to speak. Whatever the reasons it never hurts to get tested! Stay safe out there!

My ex told me more than once that he was having weird...Symptoms...down there and had the nerve to ask if I was cheating on him. Then he got mad when he found out I had got tested for multiple STDs. I didn't JUST get tested because he made comments about something bothering him down there or because he accused of cheating, but I explained to him that I had two other boyfriends before him and never once considered getting tested for anything because we always used protection but I thought since my doctor was asking then I should take the time to find out if anything at all was going on with me so I could be in charge of my physical health. Still made him upset. Man was cheating for sure. Part of me wishes I told his friends and family how he treated me and why I broke up with him but I ultimately decided none of them mattered since they were getting cut out of my life along with him. Not only that but they've known this man for years and some of his closest friends have had falling outs with him for their own reasons so I really don't know how much what I would have to say would shock them. They make a choice every day to care about and forgive him despite how he treats people. EDIT: I tested negative for any STDS by the way thank God

Lack of empathy, enititlement to hall passes without permission, no remorse smacks more of a narcissistic type trait than sociopath but that can be a part of being a narc as well
