Brooke, great review on the Wiggy’s bag. I personally have had one since 2002. I used this bag extensively and for 18 months straight in the Mountains of Afghanistan along with its FTRSS overbag as a 2 piece system where I would use the overbag for 40. Degrees and above and the Thule for anything down to 0 degrees and the combination of the 2 for anything below 0 degrees. First off I think there is a general misconception by most people in the temperature rating on these bags Wiggy’s bags are rated at a temperature when using a ground pad and in a shelter. I always call it more of a survival rating more than a comfort rating. Also everyone’s comfort level is different so one must test your equipment out, prior to use if possible. A Wiggy’s bag WILL keep you alive even when wet, I personally know this as well unfortunately, and alive is a lot different than comfortable. I don’t know how you slept in it, as they don’t show all the intricate details on the show that some of us are actually interested in, but I’ve learned over the years that I for one Never like my head inside of my bag, I use a wool stocking hat or when really cold a balaclava to keep my head warm. The Wiggy’s bag is designed this way just like its design is not to be used in a goretex Bivy, it’s design is to allow your body to breath. I also never sleep in my clothes unless I have a separate set of clothing meant for sleeping only. My feet always get cold so I keep a pair of wool socks in the bottom of my bag I use when it’s cold. I highly recommend the Wiggy’s Sleeping bags myself, for one I know it’s not perfect but I do know that anyone that has a Wiggy’s bag will at least survive in the elements, they may not be comfortable but they will live. As far as comfort goes, again everybody is different, we all have different body shapes and comfort levels. It’s always important to get out and try your equipment out to see what works for us or not, especially something as important as a sleeping bag. I think it’s good to read reviews on products but in the end, until you try something out for yourselves to see if it works for you in the end. I like your honest opinion of this bag and you described what you did and did not like about it, also it is good testimony that this bag worked for you while in the harsh Vancouver weather, but what you would like different still speaks volumes for this bag. Keep up the great videos!

Hey thanks Mark for that great reply, and thanks for your service to our country! I agree with you- great idea to vet gear before extensive trips. This one was different- we didn't know where we were going or when- You get picked for Alone and then it's game on. I've used down bags most of my life, with the exception of car camping where the luxury of weight doesn't matter and a synthetic bag is useful for casual use. I picked Wiggy's because of the quality and design in a synthetic style and did not get to put it to use before we left- it was completely a blind choice but I had read extensive reviews and felt confident with my choice. I still stand by it and was pleased with it overall. The fact that I hated the hood is just a personal one. I would look over at Dave with just a breathe hole with his military bag (british- amazing hood!) and was really jealous! Don't forget- the weight loss is epic out there on that show and that does NOT help. I'm a small person and I was red-lining with my weight. I also wore a hat and all my clothes. I was just NEVER warm out there except when in my bag with hot rocks (slept with them every night.) But exhaustion and a lack of calories adds up after weeks and weeks and you get real familiar with what you like and don't like about your gear. I'll never NOT recommend a wiggy's bag, but that hood system drove me crazy. Glad it worked for you and you guys out there really get to test your gear and yourselves- absolutely right- there is a difference between comfortable and ALIVE! It did a fantastic job of staying dry in that climate and I'm not sure i touched on that in the vid. Highly impressed with that feature alone! Overall- good bag and I'm glad I took it! Thanks much for watching my vids and thanks for your comment Mark!

I have heard so many stories about a Wiggy bag, of all stages of insulation, saving lives. One girl's canoe tipped over in the middle of no where. She became hypothermic in no time. She was in Alaska. She finally realized she had her Wiggy Bag, she got in it and she was warmed up in a matter of a few minutes or so and because she was so far from help, the Wiggy Bag saved her life. Did I mention it was raining and the bag was soaked. It still worked. And the dude who said Wiggy used 30 year old technology, why would you change it if it works. Uh........patented technology, I think is the word I'm looking for. It's the best in the world. Enuf Said.

As far as the hood system goes, I form the hood before getting into bag and it works great; you can snuggle your head right in and lift main bag over mouth so only nose is sticking out. You can also just cinch the hood without cinching main bag by pulling only one elastic string instead of both at same time. You can also easily sleep on your side too. You can also have Wiggy make you a custom length bag if required.

I love my Ultima Thule and couple it with an over bag and have slept outdoors here in Minnesota at -30 below zero. Snug as a bug! Love Wiggys from Grand Junction, CO.....am going to get their bib for my outdoor job this winter. Keeping the bag in its compression stuff sack when not being used won't hurt it according to its owner Jerry Wigutow. Love their travel pillows which have become my primary pillow now as well......thanks for ur informative video.

I was issued a WIGGYS bag by my company when I went to Afghanistan ( YES -- Afghanistan is the hottest I have EVER been in the summer but it also gets Well far below freezing in the winter. The ones they gave us were the -60 BELOW BAG --- It is actually 2 sleeping bags zipped together. So in the warmer weather you can use One Lighter filled bag and as it gets colder switch to the heavy filled bag and when it gets SUPER cold you zip both bags together. I was in Afghanistan 3 years -- living in a tent - or a mud hut or a plywood box. I had NO A/C in the summers and no HEAT in the winters. I was not a fan of the HOOD either and I am not a fan of ANY ""MUMMY"" style sleeping bags and the 2 piece -60 Below bag is an ABSOLUTE BEAST in size and weight ---- it actually takes 2 stuff sacks so not a fan of that -- I like the square bottoms best but other than that -- Of all the sleeping bags I have owned over my life time ( and I have owned many ) this is by far my absolute best .

Great review... I have several Wiggy's bags and would own no other. Hood...rarely use mine but I never have cinched it up like you did....when it is below freezing I always wear either a wool watch cap or a full headcover... Length of the bag...put your clothes down at the end of the bag to keep them warm and dry and to add extra insulation for your feet. If the bag is too long instead of tying off the end of it, fold it under itself if there is enough of it....that will double the insulation under your feet. Wiggy also makes custom length bags...all you have to do is ask... Lighter insulation on the bottom vs. the top... You would find that even if there were equal amounts it would make no difference as once the Lamalite or any other insulation gets flattened down it doesn't insulate...so in this case it would have just been extra useless weight. If you had used one of the Wiggy's pads under the bag you would have had no issues. I slept for two nights on top of iced over snow at 5-8* with just the pad under the bag and was not just warm but hot..

I just received (Nov. 2023) my Wiggy's Ultima Thule Hunter rectangular -20 F bag which I purchased based a bit on your review. I just used it in 25 degree F and 30 mph winds. It is very drafty. It does not zip from the inside. I have to reach my entire arm outside the bag to zip it either up or down. You can see through the teeth of the zipper and it lets in the wind like a screen door. The baffle doesn't stop the cold wind but redirects the wind down and around the bottom of the bag. There is no wind collar around the neck of the bag thereby increasing the drafts. I have no problem with the draw string, but when you cinch it tight there is a two inch hole that allows the cold wind to come right on in (and give you a cold nose). I was surprised to have cold feet all night in just 25 degrees above zero. So I'll have to use a wool blanket as a liner to stop the drafts and wear heavy woolen socks and lots and lots of hand warmers this winter when temperatures are in the single digits and the wind gusts to 50 mph+ here in Boston, Massachusetts. Your review is great and I still like my Wiggy's sleeping bag, I'll just have to add a blanket as a liner.

I really like the Wiggy's bags. The Lamilite is a lot more forgiving and durable than other synthetics. Compared to down it's heavy and bulky. Compared to an MSS, it's light and compact. It's hard to beat in wet environments.

Extreme temps a balaclava as for the length in winter that's where you put tomorrows clothes.It also fills up the dead space for warmth retention.
@thetaysonwhittaker7 жыл бұрын
The reason they take insulation out of the back of the bag is because it doesn't add warmth to your sleep. All the warmth on your underside comes from your sleeping pad. The insulation just compresses flat and doesn't insulate underneath you. We do the same on my bags at Outdoor Vitals

I have the Ultra Light and an Overbag. I like my bag but I hear ya on the drawstring thing. I rarely use it and just have a fleece cap that I wear. I sleep hot so it’s not an issue for me. In general, I like my bag. It’s not Light and it’s not small but I tend to camp in the wet so it works great for me. Less insulation in the bottom makes sense as your body compressing it will nullify insulation therefore, it’s just added bulk and weight.

Thank you very much for your focus on the hood; it is indeed a dreadful system, and the drawcord pressing into my forehead is agonizing. I'm surprised that Jerry hasn't fixed this. I think maybe his stubbornness is getting in the way. Who knows? When using my Wiggy's bag below about 0 C, I wear a fleece balaclava.

That hood looks similar to a bivvy bag I have. Sombody showed me that it's best to pre-tension the hood and move the gather to the forehead area. Then, you can slacked off the hood enough to get in and the gathers on the forehead stay mostly in place. That took me from hating that bivvy bag to loving it. Might work for that sleeping bag too.

The hood design is a disaster in what is otherwise a stellar bag. I too have used many bags over the decades, and the hood system on Wiggy's bags is cheap, poorly thought out, and desperately needs overhauling. If I were more skilled with fabric and thread, I would try to mod the bag and install something better. Until then I'll use a fleece balaclava (and not for preventing the drawstring from carving a groove into my forehead!)

@@karielee2896 You are correct that they don't have a short bag--but most of Wiggy's variety of bags come in as many as four sizes. The Ultimate Thule boat foot reviewed above comes in three sizes Regular/Regular 80" X 31" Regular/Wide 80" X 34" & Long /Wide 90" X 34". So it is not a one size fits all bag.

Thank you fir your review. That must have been a memorable trip! I have a Wiggy’s bag, and, if I may, offer a couple of suggestions? A couple of simple tricks will make the bag fut you better. 1. If you skoochdown into the bag another couple of inches, the hood will form better around your head. 2. Then, heist up your backside, and pull up the foot of the bag so your feet are in the box area. I have a merino wool knit cap that pulls down over my eyes and ears. It makes a good sized difference around the campfire and in the sack. Courtesy of Half Vast Flying

Thank you for doing the review. I also greatly enjoyed Alone season four (and their other seasons for that matter). If you wanted equal insulation top and bottom you merely had to select the Antarctic boat foot which has the same insulation weight as the Ultimate Thule on top and matches it on the bottom. Current price difference between the two models is $40.00 USD.

The only thing I use a sleeping bag for, if I can help it, is as a cushion between me and the ground. I much prefer a wool and fleece two blanket system (obviously in the cold). I wrap myself in the fleece first to keep the itchy wool of any exposed skin, then wrap all up in the wool. As mentioned, I do like to have a sleeping bag, or another folded up blanket, underneath me for comfort but that's the only use I've ever had for one. I seem to recall you made a video about something pretty similar. Good, honest review Brooke. Thanks!

I had an old military goose down sleeping bag with a heavy duty North Face down bag inside of it, and two dogs. I was warm as a bug in a rug. But my friends slept in the back of a pickup bed (on cold metal) and were whining half the night about the cold. Till I got up and took some hot rocks wrapped in a towel over to them and told them to stick stick it in their sleeping bag. That quieted 'em down :> I winter camped a lot in my younger years. Much nicer than summer because no one else was out there.

He said his feet stayed dryer/warmer, less odor than other socks he uses in the winter. I had taken a quick look at their website but they might only sell men's sizing?

I have a sleeping system that weighs 4 lbs, is not effected by getting wet, has no zippers to jam or break, no stuffing to fall out, folds and rolls up to the size of a couple of footballs. Add to that a monofilament gillnet-hammock (minus the floats and lead weights), plastic stakes and tieoff cords, etc, 1 lb, and 2 lbs of clothing (beyond normal summer wear) and it can handle anything from 120F down to 10F, without a fire. With a fire and in the supershelter setup, it can handle near-arctic conditions. All the layers/bags feature velcro seams, and complete head to toe coverage, with a little breathing hole. One bag features a drawstring at the neck and a removable hood (also with a drawsting) for use as a rainsuit. Simply add or subtract layers/bags as needed for your current conditions. The 4 lb weight includes a bug-netting-bag, and a bubble-wrap-bag. If I can't hang the hammock, I use the bug net bag and the hammock as a spacer/insulation between the layers. above me and put both sides of the bubble-wrap bag underneath me. The extra clothing consists of 2 sets of longjohns (buttons and cord loops to keep the dreaded 'kidney exposure" from occurring. One set, used only for sleeping, is merino wool. The sleeping socks go inside, on my feet (never worn during the day) and then the other 2 pairs of socks go around the sleeping socks. I use a hoodie, ski mask, a couple of bandanas, and ski gloves. If the system is set up the way you want it, you can un-roll it and be inside of it in a minute flat, and you can get out of it in seconds. If you need to reconfigure it for differing conditions, that can take another few minutes. All of the bags can open flat and become otherwise useful. All can be worn as clothing, too. With the exception of the netting, all of the bags can form rain-catches sunshades, wind-blocks, or be used as the "skin' of a water-craft, as as pontoons for a raft. The clear plastic bag is the outermost layer and gets pressed into duty if a Korchanski super-shelter-fire are required or if you need to extract water via solar-still type of arrangements. Condensation is dealt with by how you set up the layers. The bags ARE a bit tear-prone and ember-hole prone, so if you want all of the system to last a year or more, you have to be careful with it. If you do the sewing yourself, you can assemble this system for around $50, getting the materials from E bay. Other than the longjohns and ski-mask, the system is useful year round.

thanks, i"ve been developing this for a long time. A soaked sleeping bag weighs 40 lbs, and I experienced one at near freezing temps one long, nasty night. i caught pneumonia over that. I've also had some close calls due to zippers. So I truly, deeply hate normal sleeping bags.
@donrussell88897 жыл бұрын
My system lets you modify it to suit your conditions, wear it as clothing, do without various layers, etc. Overall, that is a very underestimated advantage, until you've actually been forced to live outside in your portable shelter, long term. then you begin to appreciate how inflexible the standard set up really is. For temps below 10F, you can easily convert my system into a Korchanski type of super shelter, for use with a fire. You can buy all the parts for this system for about $100, and a half a day's cutting and sewing will see it done. I think that it can be made in China for $ 30-$40, shipped here for $ $5-$10, and retailed for $150. While that's a bit much for a homeless guy, it's nothing for a thru-hiker, most bushcrafters, or one of the millions who are living in there vehicles/rv's. You need the option of the hammock or sleeping on the ground, you need the tarp and supershelter option, the ability to wear some or all of it as a poncho, the ability to strip off layers, the indifference to getting wet. Indeed, it makes a great rain-catch system.

The 3 piece Military Sleep Syt.(MSS) is anyone's best bet when purchasing a Sleeping bag. You can't go wrong when it comes to the best that's made for our military and sold to the public too. actually, the mSS is pretty pathetic as to bulk, weight, and level of warmth. you can do better for half as much weight and bulk. The MSS, for the Alone show, would have been considered to be 3 items, not just one.

Hoplite Warrior from what I understand, Wiggy’s bags are the only ones used by all 4 branches of the U.S. Military. They are also used by the Alaskan Coast Guard and Arctic rescue. I have the MMSS myself, but I certainly wouldn’t discredit Wiggy’s as another serious USA made option. -Craig

Hey Brooke, this bag is rated as -20, is that -20C or F? Temperature ratings are always questionable, what was the coldest night you endured on the Island? Like you, I have perpetually cold feet so the bags I have used are usually rated for extreme cold.The hood design has had no thought put into it whatsoever, which suggests a lack of research or production cost saving, at $250 US I think you should expect a bit more attention to detail, although the materials appear to be reasonable quality.

It's not all that cold on the BC island. The ocean keeps the temps from dipping too low. The continual rain and dampness will drive you batty!

Thanks Brooke. The climate where I live in the hills of Southern Interior of BC is different to Vancouver Island. I remember hiking in Scotland in August of many years and being cold all week because of the perpetual rain and mist. Keeping stuff dry was impossible for more than 3 or 4 days, Initially I had an amazing, expensive duck down sleeping bag, this lost it's insulation as soon as it got wet. After that I used double fibre pile or synthetic fibre filled sleeping bags as they retain some warmth when wet.

Hey, Brooke. That looks like a decent bag, and if it worked for you on Vancouver Island for 49 days, it must have done the job it was hired to do, drawstring hood issues not withstanding. I'm still using my 35 year-old Slumberjack -20* mummy bag, but I may be replacing that in the spring. How is the cabin coming along? The cabin-building season must be pretty short up North. BROOKE I know I,ve written a lot of stuff in Comments I,M really just playing catch up as I go through all your coooool video,s As for sleeping Bags I take a couple of things into account .No1 I,m not dealing with the same cold factor you are. At the coldest it has never got to below minus 5 Celsius when we used to camp out Even in mid winter way out back where we Used to camp near Coll a ren a bri (all the lad,s but 1 are gone we had a regular crew of 7 but now their all R,I,P, ) but I,ve also used my heavy canvas swag as my bed so With that and A sleeping bag to minus 5 I was always FAIRLY comfortable . Also we often took stretchers or ( as you would probably call them camp beds.easy to carry very compactable and lite I Also take into consideration that In a sleeping bag with a hood I,m Claustrophobic ( stems from a few incidents when I was a kid with an action that was supposed to be play but traumatised me because I felt trapped and couldn't breath. So I hate to be hemmed in . I do carry an extra polar fleece lite blanket ( might seem weak a 63 year old man admitting too that but that,s the way it is ) I use a sleeping bag with quick exit capability. Also your DEALING with a girl made Bush shelter where as we always had a form of lightweight tent and fly. But if my feedback is inform a tive that's good One of my mates was an excellent hand to have because he was a Navy seal ( Aussie Navy )he did his seal training in Portsmouth England and the Scottish highlands.( and there are several stories about that too ) But he could do and make anything with his hands.BTW I take my hat off to Dave and yourself As far as some of your trips I believe it would take a lot of Intestinal fortitude ( And if you think I,m being a bit formal let,s call it just plain Homegrown bloody gut,s Aussies always say bloody It,s an inbuilt part of our lingo.Anyway Cobberdogs GONE!!!

Hi Brooke, I have been curious... When you went on alone, did you have to pack absolutely everything inside the backpack? I saw some guys hand carry a bow or a saw, etc. Did that Wiggy's bag leave much room left in the backpack? How did you deal with that or was it a pretty big pack to begin with? Also, I am looking to get a new bag because I just got too fat for my 30 year old Wilderness Experience. I am looking at Wiggy's or possibly a foam bag made by Pakanuni. Maybe you should try the Pakanuni? If you do, let us know how that compared to the Wiggy's for you.

If you get up off the ground (and are able to stop convective loss of heat) you're way ahead, for a fact. Ditto if you can have a hot meal and especially, a hot drink before you sleep, If you exercise a bit before turning in, and and if you are already acclimated to the cold, those things are a big help, too.

Brook, I think that it was designed for a much larger person. That is why it doesn't cover your face properly. It is also the foot problem. As far as the lower portion goes, I am with you. It is definitely an error in the design. Any survivalist knows that you need bottom protection as well as top protection. I just want you to know that the bag is worth more than it was when you bought it because it gives it's new owner bragging rights that it is the bag that you used in the Alone survival series. If I weren't as broke as I am, I would definitely be bidding on it. I am a big fan of yours and if I weren't a poor boy, I would make sure that it became mine. You are one Spectacular Survivalist and a beautiful person Brook. Best wishes for you and your future adventures.

A little "trick" I'd realized (over-wintering in a tent in northern Minnesota, one time) IS THIS: Turning the bag upside...down--meaning "pillow" area drapes over your head, completely--not only means your...head stays warmer!!! But, also...(I couldn't sleep well, otherwise) there IS NOT that constrictive "wrap" squeezing around one's head, tightly? Other "adventures" (not certain IF I'd applied that...that winter, long ago) taught me to be wearing, likely...TWO (I'm spacing out the...name) knitted hats: most probably loosely fitted ones, too? BUT, that turning upside...down the sleeping bag was THE JOY, really? (Eventually, I "lived" in navy flight pants--and, parka, likely--as it got...REALLY cold, down to -40f even: while earlier...on, not so bad really. "Sub-human" in many respects--that...long, that...alone: listening to folks in, say, Missouri over the radio lamenting over how "cold" it was...there, for giggles--but...? That's another "story"? Meanwhile, "normal" routines--you're LIVING out there, after all? One learns...MANY THINGS--one wouldn't necessarily "choose"--invaluable in...many respects, however?)

People on alone just give up on the idea of foraging enough to maintain their body weight, so the only way to win is be fat and lucky. Why does anyone think that a 75 sq ft, 1.5" mesh gillnet is worth taking, but 3000 sq ft of 4" mesh netting is not worth making? Netfishing is like trapping, you have to do a LOT of it to benefit from it. It's a numbers game.

Good on ya for presenting some of the very real-world issues with these sleeping bags --- thermal inefficiencies, load out bulk with weight as a glaring issues, as well as generally poor fit effecting just that scenario of ineffectiveness by way of several means. All too often folks get caught up in the hyperbole nonsense and do not fact check (as in seeking empirical evidence) when it comes to gear selections - they just play along convinced; then believe what they are told (going outside a great deal of the times un-tested!!!). The hype continues to grow inflating the perceived magic way out of proportion and eventually largely falsehoods (lol -pun intended) become acceptable as truths. When gear/companies such as this are called out by relevant professionals in the field and in laboratories... companies leadership and marketing get challenged and they instantaneously get pretty offended... particularly defensive... then look to intimidate. Stuff like they 'know more about insulation than anyone on the planet' boasting. Fine and dandy if it works for some folks... however many in the know about this sort of stuff through experience, attention to detail, and scientific emphasis do not use or get suckered in by all the bs. I think you are brave to give an honest review as in it sorta worked --- but sorta did not. People need to see that in reality (again pun intended) after all you took a -20F sleeping bag!!! and the 'coldest' temps likely recorded on the Island are +8 to +15F in mid winter!!! To me... this exhibits hype while the 'actual performance' you got out of this bag is the same ol' stories and assessments concerning diminishing returns, lacking efficiency and effectiveness, etc. that was well founded via laboratory plus field identified fluff back in the 1990s. Sadly the reality is... What you took out there was essentially an early gen. inexpensive basic polyester fill equivalent... w/a fancy name to it and having a simple lamination process. You would have fared nearly equally well with a sporting goods box store thick 'trappers' cabin style sleeping bag with polarguard and sewn baffles.
@phfatcat78677 жыл бұрын
Anyone who gripes about "old technology" obviously would not comprehend the axiom "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"". I've used continuous filament sleeping bags since the mid-seventies, and they have always kept me warm...even when soaking wet. Try that with your 1,000 dollar down bag...Are they heavy? Compared to down, sure. Bulky? Again, if you use down as the standard, sure. But if you camp where I do, which is NOT on a glacier at 12000 feet up, but in a temperate, damp, wooded environment, Wiggy's is my first and only choice...as for the nitpicking about the draw cord on the hood, well...to each his own...but to place yourself in a pseudo-"survival" situation and be bothered by a string? And I am kind of amused by the negativity coming from one "Alaska Raft Connection", as Alaska is one of Wiggy's biggest markets. That's why the only retailer of Wiggy's products, outside of Wiggy's home store in Colorado, is in...Alaska...which begs the question, whose sleeping bags are YOU trying to sell? Lots of people have tried to belittle Wiggy's and his products over the decades, but he still sells them as fast as he can make them. And the people doing the buying are not pilgrims. The pilgrims have never heard of Wiggy's.
@alaskaraftconnection-alask33977 жыл бұрын
You clearly did not read my commentary: A.) No one including me is 'griping about old technology. B.) No comments of mine concerning using down (or what types) as a standard. C.) Where is 'survival' situation in all of this... reality TV? really (no offense to those participants that enjoyed, learned, benefitted, and grew as people) being part of a show D.) I'm not selling an audience here on anything... that would be unprofessional additionally not courteous to this channel and its owner. E.) There is a reason for 2ish outlets to purchase... think about it!!! There is also a reason that the sewn in place poly insulation in MSS system is likely production >10,000:1 vs. Lamilite... no measurable real-world benefits!!! If you honestly believe Alaska is a 'big market' for sales... I offer up ocean front property in Kansas with fly-out King Salmon fishing. Food for thought --- I first discovered this channel when a friend of mine saw this particular host having some air retention issues with an inflatable boat she had purchased at a garage sale... I helped her out comment-wise on a DIY repair solution at home to get her back on water. Here, I present the facts of why this is not all the sleeping bag it's cracked up to be. Have a better New Year - Pilgrim? Pilgrims??

sleeping bags don't feed you, as you found out. Season 4, you were not punished for taking one, in fact, you had to do so. But the other seasons, especially 1 and 2, when they were just GIVEN a 20x2 tarp, they could have used force-dried debris, stuffed into folded, sewn (straighten out one fishhook) hunks of tarp and have thus, freed up one of their 10 picks for something that's more useful.

Are Wiggy's bags the best out there? No. Are they a high value option made in the USA that will keep you warm? Yes. Pros - Made in the USA, Robust, comfortable. (wide versions for big guys) Cons - Doesn't compress well and is HEAVY. If you're just car camping, they are a good option. Or willing to lug a 6 lb bag that is ok down to zero degrees, and have a bag that takes up your whole pack. For the price, and the average camper, they are a great option. If money is no object, go with Western Mountaineering, Kifaru, Feather Friends, or even a quilt from elightened equipment.

yup i know the feeling! it was in the boy scouts when my aunt had given it to me. the one time i used that hood flap thing, i cooked myself that night. it was in the middle of winter with a foot of snow on the ground and i woke to the bag half off me.
