so that's what the Wii shop channel looks like XD I didn't know because I have the homebrew channel and some other piece of unauthorized device that let's me play pirated games, from where I come from, it's ok to purchase pirated (from 50$ to something you can buy for 2$!!) and I'm afraid that maybe if I updated my Wii, something bad will happen to it and I don't have the money to fix it.

Tbh it suck how Nintendo shut down the wifi. But they want to move on to focus on the Wii U and 3DS when they're both current systems for them. But hey you can play online on your Wii and DS again if you know how to do a homebrew like the Sega Dreamcast.

MrCasualPlayer2 They didn't shut it down. GameSpy, the company that hosted the Wi-Fi servers, shut down and shut down all their servers with it. Nintendo had no say in the matter.

You didn't need to update. In fact, you shouldn't really have updated, but that's besides the point. Next time you need to update only a channel without touching the rest of the system, use the app "WiiSCU".

@CrappyCaptureDevice: Ah yes, that would make sense why you weren't able to update the Shop Channel properly, being on 3.2 probably would cause some problems. I personally think the best system menu that balances between having most homebrew working fine and most regular stuff working fine is System Menu 4.1. Granted, you need a lower system menu if you want to do some more complex stuff, but if you have the skills to do that then you should have the skills to downgrade your Wii.
