0:00 "The world is veiled in darkness. The wind stops, the sea is wild, and the earth begins to rot. The people wait, their only hope, a prophecy... 'When the world is in darkness Four Warriors will come...' After a long journey, four young warriors arrive, each holding an ORB." And to think, Square pinned their last hopes on this game.

Actually it was supposed to be Sakaguchi's last game before going back to university.

The name of the game was actually based off of both. It could have been both Sakaguchi's last game and also Squaresoft's last as they were nearing bankruptcy.

That's right. Good compositions sound good with any instruments. Today's game music cameos itself with pretty sounds embellishing mediocre compositions with impressive ambient sounds, but take those sounds away and you are left with sub-par compositions and progressions.
@Peter_19864 жыл бұрын
@@Mystwalker That has always been my rule of thumb when I compose melodies - they should sound good on any instrument, including things like the NES sound chip. This means that the core melody in itself is powerful enough, without being dependent on "pretty sounds".

There's a reason the first dialogue box most people will get in the game is "This is Cornelia, the city where dreams are woven." I'm playing the game now for the first time and it has such an inherently nostalgic vibe to it that games seldom capture nowadays. It's so simplistic in its nature in an almost innocent way.

Thank you so much for your video game soundtracks! Your excellent efforts bring me right back, allowing me to re-live my best memories from the past... well, many years; I often listen to your soundtracks and reflect. Looking forward to relaxing tonight after work and doing just that, in fact; whiskey in one hand, and PS3 controller in the other. Oh, and the bonus with this particular track is, the original FF for the NES is what began my (and many others') love affair with RPGs. I spent wonderful hours and hours playing this game, a welcome distraction after a long day at work. So again, thank you.

I know the covers to countless US releases had awful Western approximations of the original cover art, but man, there was just something about this cover that got me as a kid. The chipped and notched weapons, the floating palace suspended in the crystal orb...it stole my imagination. And that classic Final Fantasy font with the twin accented "F"'s...nothing will match Amano's art, but as a piece of fantasy art by itself, this cover is still great. And the game is amazing, too.
