I agree! The WiiM Amp Pro does not feature Airplay, but we hear it's possible that feature may be added in the future via a firmware update. We have no idea if/when that will happen, sadly.

WIIM Ultra also does not feature Airplay, AFAIK it is a hardware related problem (or maybe licensing/restrictions related and they are just not saying). The WIIM pro and pro + do have airplay, so it is a bit suspect as to what lead to the decision to omit it.

The Marantz is built to read higher resolution music files for a truly audiophile level sound and has a little stronger amp built in (A lot stronger if using 8 ohm speakers with it). The WiiM Amp Pro does have something going for it; it has the better DAC.

Great review👍 I can’t think of another hi fi separate that combines streaming, amplification, a good quality DAC, extensive connectivity and software control with graphic/panoramic equalisation. Certainly not at this price!

Hello crutchfield is this definitely better than the wiim amp ? I want a simple amp with hdmi and sub out and bass management and use for my jvc tv using my Firestick remote is this possible?

This WiiM Amp Pro is better in terms of sound quality especially from digital audio sources. It has an improved ESS Sabre DAC than the WiiM Amp. It also has PFFB (Post-Filter Feedback) technology for clean, low-noise performance which is not found in the WiiM Amp.

You can improve the sound quality of your streaming sources by upgrading to the WiiM Amp Pro. Stepping up to Wi-Fi streaming over the Bluetooth you are using now for source with your AIYIMA will provide a sound quality increase and will support Hi-Res streaming from subscription sites like Tidal and Quobuz that provide Hi-Res music.

So as an Apple Music user this is basically useless? WiiM home app doesn’t work with Apple Music without airplay from my experience.

If you are using only Apple Music and want Airplay features, those are not currently supported with the WiiM Amp Pro.
