WiiM Pro vs WiiM Pro Plus vs WiiM Mini: Which Audio Streamer Is Worth It? 🎵

So, which one is YOUR Ultimate Audio Streamer?

Wiim Mini. It's connected to my NAS via wifi, and to my integrated amp vie S/PDIF. Which means I'm able to stream 24-bit/192kHz FLAC and HD audio from Tidal and Qobuz gaplessly, with the exact same quality as I would with a Pro or Pro+. Yes the DAC on the Pro+ is better than that of the Mini. But it's still an entry level DAC. And if we're talking about anything remotely close to audiophile systems, it's still going to be something you want to bypass in favor of a better DAC, either a separate (optimal) or a high end integrated amp with a decent built in DAC.

Not sure how you are comparing the sound of the Pro against the Pro Plus when as per your setup in the video you seem to be using the optical OUT, which is then bypassing the DAC on both WiiM's & using the DAC in the amp you are connecting it to. To compare the sound of these two WiiM streamers DACs you would need to connect them to the RCA Analogue OUTs on the WiiM to the AMP (& not using a digital out), thus then you are using the WiiM DAC (Digital to Analogue Converter) & the amps internal DAC would not come into the equation then. Besides this, good video., I love the way you delivery it

Ding ding ding. Pro+ has a better DAC. But it's still not as good as a budget DAC like a Shiit Mani+. And you could buy a Wiim Mini and the Shiit Mani+ for a lower combined price than just the Wiim Pro+ and get superior sound. This is a really good video overalll. But it's absurd to on one hand talk about 32-bit audio, and then on the other to talk about any of these Wiim DACs as being audiophile quality. That's like talking about the performance of a Lamborghini, then using it to tow a 35' boat. The Lamborghini is a high performance car. But used incorrectly, you lose all the performance. They're great units. But if you want audiophile quality, then you'd have to connect them via S/PDIF so that you bypass the cheap DACs. And you can do that with all three units.

@@robmbond says who ? You got me concerned and just checked it on their official site. It is still there according to them ( AirPlay Getting Started Use AirPlay on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac to stream your favorite music, movies, podcasts, and other audio directly to your WiiM devices. )

Solid video overall. But all three have entry level DACs, and it's meaningless to talk about HD audio with DACs of this quality. The DACs are solid value if you're streaming to Alexa devices and things of that very entry level nature. Those systems can't take advantage of anything better than 16-bit/44.1mHz CD quality audio. And doubtful if you'd even be able to notice a difference between CD/Lossless Audio and high quality MP3s. For that you need better, more expensive hardware every step of the way. If you're serious about high end audio, the value in Wiims - and it's considerable - is as a streamer, either single or multi-room. To me, that's where the difference in feature set matters. Would have liked to see greater detail on that, rather than talking about DACs that are all sup-par when it comes to the high bit depth/sample rates talked about in the latter part of this video. Connected via S/PDIF, the mini is capable of streaming up to 24-bit/192kHz files gaplessly. Which takes you beyond the threshold of the human ear, even on a $10,000+ system with professional quality setup and tuning in the most pristine listening environments.
