This is peak Phish. The whole 97 run is incredible. I saw them three weeks before this at the Palace of Auburn hills and it was magic.

I did all 97 Fall (minus Vegas/ car trouble) 12-6-97 was always "MY SHOW" I bragged and bragged about. Took me a long time to win people over becauae of the placement of the show. 12-7-97 and those soundboards but I slowly won kids over and when Phish dropped the 12-6-97 live, people finally told me, "Yo, My bad B, that Tweezer is what's up" ass Izbella on a legendary show. I will say to people who didn't jump fast, tapes didn't flow fast in 97 and every show had the riches. Man, what a tour to pick to be first full. I did ton 95 fall but they were runs not TOUR - anyone that's done full tours knows what I mean and why people who TOUR get little upset at people saying they on tour when they doing Alpine > DC and that's a rap.... Try 2 night Alpine > 3 night DC > one day off straight to south for Raleigh, ATL, Charlotte this all before coming from AZ, 4 in Cali, 2 at Gorge w/ no off night before Utah, Kansas... Then Pittsburg, Jersey and drive to It.... man 2003 put miles on tour kids but the band was throwing down wild parties. The ole "Ain't no party like a Phish Party" went hard 99,2000, 2003 Even band was beat in 2003 Summer ask Mike in Charlotte..... HaHa Trey had welcome Mike Back to show

If you haven't seen a live video yet of the band all switching places, I really super recommend it. Jon and Trey switched when I saw them. They played "Sexual Healing," with Fishman singing and playing... a vacuum cleaner.

Being a drummer you'll appreciate John Fishman from this band. There is a video of him playing with the the Jazz Mandolin project. If you haven't seen that it's a impressive performance, i think the song is "Oh Yeah".

The rabbit hole is deeper than you can imagine with this band. As others have said, there are so many different styles and aspects of this band to dig into. Have fun exploring! Enjoyed the reaction. In a funny way, I feel like I get the experience the song again for the first time listening along with someone hearing it for the first time.

Just FYI it's hard to see on this old video, but Fishman does play a full acoustic kit. He has some drum pads in his setup but otherwise it's all normal acoustic pieces. You can find a rig rundown of his kit if you search it on KZbin. It's basically a normal kit... but with like 15 extra pieces that only get used for certain songs. He's a pretty underrated player, but he is phenomenal and can play with ease in many different styles.
@ryanshaughnessy72004 жыл бұрын
Not sure what leads him to believe they are electronic in the first place. Strange lol but yea I’ve seen the Spd-s pad in his setup but have never seen or heard him use it. I assume he got it for free so might as well stick it up there. Probably for endorsement sake lol he is badass though
@JP_434 жыл бұрын
@@ryanshaughnessy7200 I can't remember what it was but I was watching something recently and they got really spacey in a jam and he stood up and started using it a bit. But yeah it probably has a few random one off sounds on it for specific songs... like half the pieces in his kit that are barely used.
@mikesmelon57143 жыл бұрын
@@JP_43 Probably the Marimba Lumina during a "Mercury" jam that Fishman started using in '16ish. I was at this show and I think it was the boomerang pedal that Trey used to slay and was using heavily in this song that got him on the thought of an electronic high hat.

Great reaction! As legitimately great as this sounds, this particular version doesn’t highlight Phish’s best and most noteworthy trait: their ability to improvise as a group. This “Tube” takes the opportunity to showcase each member, and that’s cool, but wait until you hear when they leave the confines of a song/jam and play totally “without a net” , creating jams whole-cloth in front of an audience - it’s when they shine the brightest. Edit - here’s a link to a good example, but it’s audio only kzbin.info/www/bejne/jYOXo4dnpbtjgJY

Yeah. Seen these guys 119 times since 1991. Those aren't electric drums. I have electric drums. And 3-4k would be a small medium-level set. Be hard to put a small DW acoustic set with hardware and cymbals together for less than 6k.

@@w.geoffreyspaulding6588 So Geoffrey, who makes the decision on putting the ad in the middle of the song. There are several reactors who don't have that happen. I don't mind them having an ad before or after the song, just not during the song. That is my objection, because it ruins the flow of the song and completely takes you out of the moment.
