I have a very bad cynophobia and it’s even worse with small dogs, because I have alot of bad experiences with small dogs. I think it’s the dogs owners fault, because they always think that ”well my dog is so small it’s not going to do anything”, but they don’t train their dogs at all to not bark and come up to random people. Even if the dog is cute and shy, I wouldn’t want to be in a small elevator with them, because I’m always over panicking of how they would suddenly react.

The mom rewriting history, that’s soooo easy for parents to do. I recently told my mom to not tell my son “don’t cry”. He’s just a toddler, and she didn’t mean it maliciously. But I had to tell her “I don’t tell him not to cry. He can cry if he wants or needs to. I was told not to cry all the time as a child because I was sensitive. I remember getting in trouble by my step-dad (her ex-husband) for crying, and he would just give me a wash cloth and tell me to stop instead of comforting me. That made me feel like I wasn’t allowed to express how I was feeling, and it wasn’t valid. So no, don’t tell him not to cry.” She was taken aback and apologized that she did that and allowed him to do that. I told her it was okay, but I think it’s just easy to forget those moments as an adult, but they stick with a kid. I know she felt bad, but I had to mention it! No rewriting history here!
@petrastedman669Ай бұрын
The perfume story is just insane. Saying "she's just a kid" is not right when she's 17 and doing multiple wrong things. She could be charged as an adult for theft among other things, so giving her a break by just asking to be paid back and cutting off her access is already nicer than deserved and a concession to her age, giving her a chance to do better.
@AndyyWithAYАй бұрын
1. Major YTA. I don't understand how some people are afraid of cute dogs, but I have certain phobias myself. It would've been so easy to be kind. 2. Actions have consequences. She stole it and sold it. She needs to pay it back. 3. Whatever is nonrefundable is cheaper than a divorce. Some people do 16, some 18, some younger for CF. But, not having the groom's child is crazy! And, some people are on good terms with exes. I don't see the mother of your child at your wedding as an inherent red flag, especially if the kids are younger.

22:00 I can guess with almost certainty the mom that made her daughter dress up like a hot dog lied to friends/family when it happened. She told the same story she told the BF and has been telling it so long she probably blocked out her being nasty. I hate when people choose what history looks like.

The MIL cake story could've been worse. One of my cousins had this happen, and her MIL actually called the bakery and *changed the order* before 'offering' to pick it up and bring it to the party. When everyone saw the cake was wrong, the witch had the audacity to say she just got what everyone really wanted. 🤬 If I'd been there, she would've ended up wearing the cake.

Why is it that parents who say "they're just a kid" seem to believe that also exempts kids from consequences? Like, okay, MAYBE little Timmy didn't fully know something was wrong, but he and his parents STILL have to deal with the consequences. SOMEONE always has to deal with consequences. Little Timmy's the one who did it, so........

17 years old is not a kid it's a whole teenager about to be a whole adult.. 😂😂 those parents have issues it would have been one thing if a six year old, did that but a whole 17 year old... I mean the 6 year old still should be punished.. are consequences to actions

Also, the thieving niece wouldn't *have* money for a car if she hadn't been *stealing* for so long. She could've asked for one of the bottles to start a decanting business and use the money to buy more and expand. She doesn't get to keep her ill-gotten gains.

I'm the type of person to accommodate others so if I was the guy with the dog phobia I would have asked them to step aside so I could get off the elevator. Then they could get on and I wouldn't have to deal with the dog. If I was the lady with the dog I would have waited for the next elevator. I see her point of not having to accommodate other people's triggers but I also think it would have been very easy to just wait for the next elevator. It's not that big of an inconvenience

On story three- I am the child from a relationship like that. My father got married twice after he divorced my mother. My second step mother, and the woman that he was married to when he passed, he married in secret, at the court house, on a Friday that rolled into a long weekend and then flew to Florida for their honeymoon. No one, not even me, knew until they got back from Disney, that they were even *dating*. That woman hated me then, and hates me now. I refer to her as my step-evil.

My best friend just died a week ago in a horrific traffic accident on the freeway. Was he the ah for not acknowledging his wife? I have kids 14 years apart. I NEVER asked my daughter to babysit for her baby brother. Not a single time. I chose to have him, not her. Even if her parents weren’t bad parents, which it sounds like they were, you still shouldn’t expect older kids to take responsibility for little ones.

Story 1. If that guy came into the elevator with a giant spider 🕷️ on his hand you'd take issue, just like I would. Why did you double down and act like you didn't care about anyone else? Because of your arachnophobia, you know what that panic feeling feels like. That was unkind. C'mon. Smh

YTA He has a fear of dogs Reailistic or not it's real to him and you could have taken the next elevator and you sure as heck didn't need to call him a baby that's just plain rude NTA You sister is right kids make mistakes And they can be a great way to learn not to do it again If she loses her car money then that's the lesson she learns NTA So the teenager in question is your son and your wife to be doesn't want him there because he's part of your old family? Nope this won't change Dump her NTA If MIL doesn't like chocolate cake MIL doesn't have to eat the cake Your son is right it's not her birthday And if she wants to throw a tantrum over that then she can keep her petty whiney arse home for every party from now on NTA for being annoyed at the time YTA for nor talking it over afterward NTA They only pay attention to you when they want something from you Lots of young parents are good parents Lots of parents have a second kid and still pay attention to the first kid Your parents suck NTA You got into trouble for making a mes while trying to cook dinner the only "discipline " should have been cleaning it up and your mother set out to humiliate her Those were crocckidial tears because you called her out for being the sh*tty parent she is
@emilypenner6287Ай бұрын
I can be a little more forgiving if you were in a rush to use the elevator but the guy even asked if you could put the dog behind you? It would literally inconvenience nobody. idk about the dog one I do agree op of the story was unnecessarily rude about the whole thing, but if the guy was so uncomfortable HE could have just as easily taken the stairs or waited for another elevator. to some extent you have to learn to manage your own phobias to the best of your ability because the world won't always accommodate

The only thing I always wonder is why, if you have a phobia of dogs, would you live in a dog friendly building, especially when dog friendly buildings are rarer than non pet friendly buildings. Also, dog friendly tend to be more expensive. I mean I know places are limited but whenever I'm looking there are way more no pet apartments available than pet friendly. Is that just my city or?
@Souls-at-zer0Ай бұрын
There are dogs everywhere you cannot escape them and in this housing crisis there is no way you can be picky when choosing a place! Be so for real… I have been bit by little yapper dogs RIGHT AFTER their owner says “ don’t worry they are friendly they don’t bite! Then they BIT ME …
@LoveMonsterАй бұрын
@Souls-at-zer0 I am not saying people should have dogs forced on them or that all dogs are perfect. I'm pointing out that from what I have seen in apartment hunting, there are far more non pet friendly places and that those that are pet friendly tend to be more expensive. If they are stuck in the building that sucks and the OP was the AH I was just wondering because I lived in a building that was very big on being dog friendly and it took me forever to find one that was, but I passed over a ton of great options that weren't pet friendly (almost all of which were cheaper than the dog friendly buildings).

The guy who was afraid could have waited for another elevator or take the stairs. My daughter has an anaphylactic allergy and it's up to her to manage this for herself. The fear of dogs is his to manage for himself. Yes he could have been kinder about it, but ultimately stewarding your fears, anxieties and allergies is the responsibility of the person with the ailment/issue unless they are too young or developmentally delayed to manage it for themselves and then it's the caregivers responsibility.
@Tink00Ай бұрын
He did manage it. He politely asked someone to wait for the next elevator, and when they went in anyways, he asked them to move the dog behind them. Those are really small asks. He was in the elevator first - he shouldn't have to get out. We don't even know for a fact that he *could* use the stairs.
@BeeBodАй бұрын
He was already in the elevator. Why would he get out to let her in at a floor he isn't getting out at?

I don't have cynophobia, but the people I know that are pathologically afraid of dogs, don't live in a rare expensive dog-friendly apartment building.
