Dear Andy, There are many things I love and are drawn to your channel, you shoot to eat (and shoot humanly) and you shoot with your camera, to enjoy and appreciate your area of peace and tranquility, you have the perfect balance. You don't sell gear, or endorse your favourite, and above all..... you have shared with us a beautiful and enviable escape. Please don't stop making these because some of us can't do it ourselves, and very much enjoy coming along with you, and learning more for the day we can do it ourselves. Kindest regards, Tim

I visited your ancestors old castle earlier this year. Not much left, but our clans got a lot of history on them lands. Iv met a few others on my channel over the past months. I was speaking with another Robson (Kevin) on my spring spear video. Really nice guy, lives in the states, but his name had changed in recent generations. Wow, what a difference in performance on your air rifle. I don't own any springers, only pcp air rifles. I didn't realize how much the break in really does help with there accuracy. I really want to invest in a nice spring rifle pretty much exactly as the one you have. I think they have a very important purpose when it comes to prepping and such. No need for pumps or air cylinders, just lube and pellets. Thanks for your videos, I really have been enjoying them. Cheers

Cheers brotha & yes, it's shooting so much better now. It's still got a noisy twang in this video, but iv tuned it up since & it's shooting alot smoother now. Defantly a great tool for preppers or survival, springers are a bit old skool nowadays, but I think basic is best. I'm guna go with the Weihrauch HW 97k next. Supposedly the best springer air gun!? Thanks Andy

your the first one I have seen so far that does it right .the air rifle is the best choice for camping or survival .it makes very little noise and hits pretty hard .I was watching one guy out doing a survival video .and he had a 20 gage shotgun .one shot with that and anything besides what e already killed would be gone .not a good choice at all. love your video's
@ClanGunnBushcraft5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Susan, that's real kind of you. I do love air gun hunting! Other than bow hunting, I think it's the hardest to master. With a larger calibre rifle you can shoot from a further distance. With an air gun, you've gota stalk in real close. You've got a move in silence and keep hidden. I really enjoy it. From your point of view in a survival situation, I agree. You can't beat an air rifle. Ammo is small and small to medium game is in more abundance than large game, so a higher powered gun is unnecessary. Plus I bet attempting to preserve all that meat from a large beast would be a nightmare in a survival situation. Thanks for watching Susan and take care. Andy
@susanmarie42575 жыл бұрын
your very welcome Andy .I agree .rabbits are easy to find and taste good and it only takes a few to fill the pot .my rifle will kill anything up to the size of a small deer .I use a hatsan 125 custom built at 30 yards at will drop a deer in its tracks .it has a double spring tune kit .and using my own pellets it has on average of 45 fpe at the muzzle .that's a lot of hit power

I heard Rabbit isn't all that nutritional but pretty tasty none the less. Will get round to it, hopefully freshly bagged. I haven't even practiced trapping, though I really should. I dont wan't to trap anything I don't "need" so would just be tripping them myself.
@ClanGunnBushcraft9 жыл бұрын
Fergs uK Yeah, probably not the most nutritious. Many would say... You can't sustain yourself on small game... Rabbit, Squirrel, Woodys, Pheasants etc, but that's nonsense!! Depends on ya skill level! Iv cleared a few farms in the past & I tell ya... if your setting 150 snares a day, you'll sustain your whole family on em!! To me there's four main areas of bushcraft & survival. Water, fire, shelter & food. Food is very under-rated, especially in the UK. Alot practace wild edibles & camp cooking, but for sure, there's not much nutrition in twigs & leaves alone. I don't like the saying... "Living off the land, sounds almost parasitic, but there's very much beauty when your living with the land :) Cheers bud Andy

Well said.

Not to clued up on optics, only know what Iv had. My last scope was pretty good... Nikko Stirling mountmaster x40 version. Only about £45. I dropped my rifle & the scope bust on a rock. Hello Andy I think that you call this way, it looks I am a hunter of Spain of Madrid concretely I have been charmed with your video I think that really the hunt is it, it is what you do, is to be in communion with the nature, to live of her, to feel though it is for a few days that you are a part of this nature of fact to manage to fuse with her turning into one more natural predator, not killing any more than it is necessary but if killing the necessary thing to survive it I believe that it is the spirit of the hunt unfortunately in my country Spain we do not take so much luck as you in The United States for example we cannot hunt with compressed air cannot use automatic weapon cannot use many of the calibres that you yes that you can use like for example 22 or other small calibres to hunt

Andy

What I don't understand is, how could your rifle be so accurate? It's a tack driver at 25 meters. I've got a Gamo Swarm Maxxim .22 Cal Multi-Shot Pellet Rifle, and it's not consistent at all. I'm pretty upset with it.

Thats some aweful tight shot groups for a pellet gun, what distance is that for round of shots? (im at work and cant hear audio if you explained it)
@ClanGunnBushcraft9 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's shooting a pretty tight group. Wasn't measured out, but it's approximately 25 meters. If you watch the camping video I did before this one, you'll see the massive difference in the groups. In the other vid, the rifles new & was the first time I hunted with it. The grouping was all over the place, but now it's broken in, it's shooting lovely. Sounds alot better now iv fitted a tuning kit to it. Cheers buddy Andy
@feellnfroggy9 жыл бұрын
who did you get your tuning kit from?
@ClanGunnBushcraft9 жыл бұрын
+feellnfroggy Brands called Ultra, and I got the standard mainspring kit from a site called... gunspares.co.uk. Cost about £50. Upgrade Ox spring kit costs about £20 extra.

Is the bag you keep all your fire supplies is it rabbit or squrrile or something else
@ClanGunnBushcraft8 жыл бұрын
+Smellvin Yeah, my tinder pouch is made from two Rabbit hides. They were harvested during winter, so there very fluffy. Iv been downsizing my kit recently, and this pouch was a bit to big. I sown up a new, slightly smaller one a few days ago using the larger hide from this video and another hide from my previous vid (#3). I make a double Squirrel trappin pouch in that video aswel. Plus I show my full hide tanning process in my camp#5 vid. Check them out if you get chance. Cheers Andy

Hi just found your channel great vids what rifle do you use and what are the laws on sir rifles now do you need a licence got them now was looking to get back into it
@ClanGunnBushcraft9 жыл бұрын
Thanks Roy, appreciate it buddy. You should get back into it, lots of fun & an air rifles a great hunting/ survival tool to have. The rifle im using in this video is a BSA lightning xl se .22 calibre. No licence needed in the UK for a sub 12lb air gun. For small game like rabbits, squirrels etc, you only need about 5lb of power to knock em down so 12's plenty. Cheers Andy
