Nice to see you out again.. tent seems okay but not a fan of those tent joint things instead of single poles… I know it makes them cheaper and lighter but not as strong. Have fun stay safe.
@jim-bob-outdoors2 ай бұрын
These are strong as hell. the poles are about 20mm thick and the joint part is almost as big as my hand.

Great shelter. I was right with my hot tent theory, almost….Maybe get a winner wall stove for it for the winter? 😉 Love the Vietnamese tiger stripe. Very Captain Willard Apocalypse Now. Wondered what it a like when it gets windy? I would like a tarp in that Camo, too. It would go with me trousers.🤣 All the best.👍🏾😉

Sure did appreciate seeing this up close review of the new Hill Zero Scarecrow, as I’d seen it on their website and had wondered about its features. It’s nice that it’s designed for hot tenting and I do really like the the spaciousness of the shelter. But I’m with you in questioning the lack of dedicated vents (beyond the snow skirting). Because in inclement weather when the awning is zipped shut, you’ll want some air movement to help regulate the BTUs put off by your stove. And you definitely want fresh air coming in somewhere to prevent the buildup of carbon monoxide. This last point is simply a personal preference…. But when I’m camping in a tent designed to keep me comfortable over extended periods of time, and there’s no mesh material on the door, I really prefer the inclusion of at least one mesh window. That way I can see outside to monitor weather, wildlife and whatever else might be moving around outside. I’m sure every added stitch, every swatch of fabric or Velcro drives up the production costs. Still, I’ll gladly pay a little extra to “check the box” on certain practical features that keep me both safe and comfortable.

Interesting looking shelter. How was the condensation in this in the morning? Would be nice to see how stove jack looks from outside of tent just for curiosity sake. Wondering if Hill Zero can not cut out the hole for stove jack too, as a lot of people are using different size pipes, and I prefer an X shape to prevent rain water from coming in on over size hole. Would love to see how a stove looks inside this rig. Not sure if I've even seen you use a wood stove in any of your videos. Keep them videos coming! Cheers!
