Wild Camping In A NEW 4 Season Tent For Winter! | Hilleberg Nallo 2GT!

Hello folks, I’ve not had a lot of time to edit the video’s recently. Thankfully I’ve found the time to finally upload this camp. New 4 season tent and it will also feature on Monty’s video later on. Thanks for your patience! The second night with Monty was up a Corbett in the Trossachs. Will save the other drumochter peak for the snow.

Helpful tip - if you split the side guy points (cut) you can anchor the tent better. This has many benefits in storms not just more points in the ground but also for preventing failure, you lose one peg no big deal, but as they come you lose one peg and both guy lines are gone, thus making the tent very easy to fail in storm force + winds, esp with the 9mm poles. Great tent, but as with alot of hillebergs im a firm believer in sorting out the side guys, people thing they are bombproof which they are, until you lose your guy anchor point. It also worth getting additional 3mm guy and tuying on additional guys to the high side points and store rolled up to be used when you know the pressure is rapidly dropping and a storm coming in. Edit - super worthwhile getting the groundsheets too, really helps with long term heacy use, not to mention cutting down on condensation, and a easier area in the porch to get changed etc or get stuff sorted in if weather bad.

Thin pans are a pain, they all bevel a concave shape when they heat up, the metal in the middle gets allot hotter then the edges causing the middle of the pan to EXPAND more then the edges. Thats why you want the thickest and heaviest pan you can stand to lug around.

Had a nallo, plenty of space for 1 person, had no need of the extra space of a GT. Now I have an anjan 2 which should be fine for 4 season use below the snowline.

If I never done the cooking for the channel the Nallo 2 would be my go to option. Just wanted the extra space for the filming. Anjan 2 would be fine as you said but I’m hoping to get some camps with the Nallo 2gt in the snow. Hopefully get a good winter. ATB Gaz

Thats a hefty tent gaz,really like it,as i was going through the specs at just over 2.5 kg its a good all season tent,all was going good until i clocked the price! I had to sit down as i felt dizzy! Good to see you back out,all we need now is a dose of sir monty! 👍

Big Monty uploaded earlier. The tent in this video is the same weight as the Soulo if you don’t include the pegs. Where the extra weight comes in is the extra pegs needed to pitch this tent. For the space I think it’s worth carrying the extra pegs. Could of bought similar tents but I do like the Hilleberg design. ATB Gaz

Heyup Gaz, The new tent is fantastic, be great for the winter I'm sure. Great video as usual 👏. Yes,the thermarest seat thing is really comfortable. I was using hellinox ground chair for sitting in the tent but found the fabric on the back rest was uncomfortable and dug into my back. Got the thermarest chair and it's fairly adjustable too. Nice one Fraser. I might need to have a look at getting one for camping. I do like my trekology chair but it’s good to have other options. The new tent has been good so far and I’m hoping to do a snow camp in it when the snow finally arrives. ATB Gaz

If you want something similar, take a look at the Fjallraven Abisko shape 2. Almost same space, the quality is on par and it's even lighter (minimum weight 1900 grams) and a bit cheaper.

Hopefully I’ll get some bad weather camps done in it. Seems to be bad weather most weekends at the moment so plenty of opportunities for it. I like the space in it and it does help make the nights more enjoyable ATB Gaz

The Saitaris looks a good tent and I’ve seen it handle strong winds with no issue. Never tried an extra set of poles on any of my tents but people have recommended doing it in the past videos. ATB Gaz

Hi Gaz, great tent. I have just bought a tent with a similar design by Nordisk called the Oppland 2 LW. It’s half the weight of the Nallo GT by using thinner materials but obviously not as durable. I think you did the right thing by avoiding the Fjallraven tents. I have the Abisko View 2 and there is no doubt the quality of the tent is amazing but if you have an issue their customer service is non existent. It’s a shame but it means I won’t buy another Fjallraven tent again. Anyway keep the quality content coming. As always love the channel. All the best.

Never knew the customer service from Fjallraven is not the best. Always off putting when I hear the customer service is bad. Fjallraven tents do look good and probably the only other tent that I would buy for the hills. Nallo 2 is heavier than other tents of a similar design but I’ve always liked Hilleberg since I got the Soulo in 2020 and Enan a year later. ATB Gaz

Great video as always Gaz👍 ive got the abisko lite 2 , which is a bit lower (but can sit up in it) has two poles, slightly lighter(but still strong) materials. All tents are a compromise, the abisko is the one that suits my priorities.

Hey gaz, That's how I do it with the liner , I use a sea to summit spark 2 and I think the same reactor liner as you. It dosent quite add 8c , prob more like 5/6c , but it's a good summer/spring/autumn setup 👌 Liking your new tent , chef Gaz Ramsay obvs needed a bigger kitchen 😋 😊

Thanks David, I would recommend getting a tent of a similar design to the Nallo Gt. It is a lot more enjoyable having the space. It was also a lot easier keeping everything in the inner dry and warm because of the vestibule. Hoping it will prove it’s worth in the snow too. ATB Gaz

Thanks Toto for your comment. I’ve finally had the free time to look through the comments I’ve received in the last week. I’ve honestly got no issues with the nallo 2gt. The tent is exactly what I expected it to be. Plenty of space, two entrances and plenty of ventilation for cooking. Only small problem I have with the tent is the lack of inner pockets but every Hilleberg tent I’ve seen lacks in pockets. Thanks ATB Gaz
