Wild camping in stormy weather! This week I was out camping at Loch Lomond, Scotland in heavy rain and strong winds. It was a rainy wet trip as expected with a yellow warning for bad weather.

It was a WILD camping experience on this occasion. We decided to do a camp in a YELLOW WARNING for heavy rain and strong winds and it delivered. We got out tents up as soon as possible and then moved straight on to the tarp, which survived the WHOLE NIGHT! Despite being damp the entire night, temperatures didn't go above or below 15c the whole day and night. Wild camping in stormy weather really is a delight, but the strong winds and waves crashing off the stone next to me, did make it difficult for me to sleep.

Great stuff Monty! My gear took days to dry out after that epic overnighter. Your tarp really held up well against the wind and rain - the seam on mine completely failed. Got the seam sealer delivered, time to get cracking on resealing it.

as you see having a reasonable size tent with enough room in the vestibule to change from your wet gear to dry warm clothes and keeping all the moisture out of your living/sleeping quarters is the key when you know the weather might or is going to be bad . Try living in a hooped bivi bag or small 1man low to the ground but stealthy as hell tent is always a trade off , lighter , smaller pack size , takes up a smaller pitch area and with the right colour harder to see to be incognito man , BUT IF THE WEATHER IS LASHING IT DOWN FOR HOURS the larger heavier, roomier tents with big vestibules always win but bulkier in size in your rucksack . So basically you need more then 1 tent .#wildcamping

old adage always bring a tarp med weight green ones u can find anywhere...liteweight nylon tents are just that...tarp 8x8 saves the day when heavy rain

@@MontyOutdoors I always try and find a good view, so mostly end up at the water's edge. The country park has some great little trails, but I always find myself drawn to the beaches when it's time to settle down for the night.

Forgot to say tell yer pal to look at my home page I use tree huggers also. a picture speaks n all that jazz. a bigger tarp would help him tremendously, I use a DD 3x3 in a diamond formation every time, but any tarp will do. Raise 1 end when its not sleepy time and you've got a big massive tent with a chair in the middle of it. ATB.

Great video, im up scotland for a wild camp on the 30th, cant wait! Will be using my OneTigris kompound hammock, underquilt and snugpak all weather shelter, to stop your mates hammock getting water i through the tree straps, hang a extra caribener hanging downward on the ones he would normally use. The water will trip down them to the floor. #wildcamping

@@MontyOutdoors it works with paracord too tie knotts on the tree straps with some loose ends hamging down for the water to run off. Im going to a place a couple miles west of hawick in the boarders, cant wait!
