Hi there! I wanted to share a personal connection with the Capanna Regina Margherita. My father was actually part of the team involved in its reconstruction back in 1977. The stories and memories of that endeavor still resonate in our old family home. I wish he could be here today to see this video and witness the incredible passion that the current generation has for the hut. It's truly inspiring to see how people cherishes and enjoys this place. It holds a special place in my heart, knowing my father contributed to its restoration. Thank you for sharing this amazing video!

This building was built in 1889. It was first constructed in the valley below, dissembled, then carried to its final location by mountaineers. A real accomplishment. That climb looks hard enough, without having to haul bits of a building. I should point out it was totally rebuilt in 1977, but still, impressive.

Why was it built? The absolutely stunning view is one reason but that’s a lot of resources and effort to expend. Was there another reason?
@hugmynutus
@hugmynutus 11 ай бұрын
@@Angie-in8wc Top of the mountain is the most exposed place. So having a good shelter there for emergencies (bad weather, waiting for emergency rescue, climbing party just fucked up and needs to spend the night) greatly reduces the risk to mountaineers. Also in the 19th century, a lot of scientists were doing high-altitude research, these locations were really useful to do that.

This is interesting: The construction of the hut was directed by the Italian Alpine Club in 1889. The hut was pre-built in the valley, then brought to its final destination by mule and then by men, and assembled on site. It was opened on 18 August 1893, in the presence of Margherita of Savoy, Queen of Italy, to whom the hut is dedicated.

When I saw the footage at the start I was like "omg where are these beautiful places" and suddenly realized many shots were of Switzerland, where I live and always have lived. I even grew up near the Alps, near Berns highlands. But I hardly ever go to the mountains anymore. I work in an international team at ETH Zurich and I see all the foreigners who come here and instantly spend every minute of free time in the mountains. Growing up here, close to the Alps, I've seen the beauty but also the toll these places can take. I have lost friends and family who have died in the mountains during various activites from mountain climbing, to hiking to skiing. None of them were inexperienced or wreckless in their behaviour - all were so-called "rare freak-accidents", but at some point, I had enough and decided to admire this part of my home just via videos, postcards, and - from far away. I hope you all stay safe up there

The fact that somebody before you had a hand in hauling the materials up there to build that fairly large cabin 3. The fact that it is apparently stocked with the essentials like LP gas, etc. 4. The mountain range and the geological formation(s) itself and the thought of the absolutely incredible forces of energy that went into forming such a dramatic landscape The vistas you captured were magnificent. That is exactly what I was thinking! I am a pilot of small piston powered planes, and many of the Cessna and Piper aircraft can't reach anything like that altitude. So what kind of drone can? Must be an expensive pro type. PS: We had a Cessna C150 (A small 2 seat training aircraft) and one day we flew it as high as it would go, we tried every trick to bump it up a little higher, but 12500 feet was the absolute max with two on board! So we would have been way below these peaks!

I only made it to the Gnifetti, a few hundred meters below, and it was exhausting for the lack of Oxygen: a step with my skis took probably a minute or more. I saw it there, at the reach of my fingers, but it took sooo long to arrive. And that was when I was young, back in the '90s (now I had to quit skiing after a broken knee). Now think of the carpenters that built it in the late 1800s, carrying tools and timber by themselves or with the help of some mules (non sure mules can climb this high), no electricity, no modern cold weather gear, soggy hemp ropes... Today supplies arrive with helis. Really heroic.

@@BrunoPisaniAdventure thanks for the quick responsiveness. Your videos have been a big inspiration ever since I've moved to Italy just over 2 years ago. I try to spend most of my weekends in the mountains. Continue doing what you're doing, this is one of the best hiking/mountaineering channels on KZbin.

Fantastic video as always Bruno! Is another video with hiking recommendations coming soon? :) The "5 easy peaks in the DOLOMITES" and "TOP 3 Circular Hikes in the DOLOMITES" videos were soo great, I think your community would love that!

Ciao!!!!

Who could fail to be inspired by such a landscape? I should think sleep was difficult having gone up to 4556m in a day.🤣

How do they even construct this place at such radical locations!!!! I can't watch these videos without feeling scared for the climbers and wonder why they do this.
