It was good to get back on the water for an overnight wild canoe camp and fishing adventure. I sweltered in 37c temps, hammock camped under the stars, cooked up an awesome feed and managed to land a couple of bass!

I completely agree, if something doesn't appeal to you it isn't necessary to "dislike" it, just don't subscribe to it. I personally love watching Scotty's videos, he does everything right by nature. he doesn't keep all his fish he lets them go and just fishes for the occasional meal or for the sport of it then releases them. As an expat Kiwi living in Brisbane I look forward to his videos when they come out, they are interesting and relaxing and I can't find anything negative to say about them. keep up the great work Scotty.

We had a pair of currawongs build a nest and raise their chicks on a ledge outside a window at work very recently. Somebody set up a live feed and streamed it internally and we had 20-30 people watching the chicks grow up. They left the nest late last week and are doing pretty damn well. I also love currawongs, such a beautiful call.

Very much enjoyed Scotty. Loved seeing the canoe in such a foreign (yet also familiar) environment. There's something distinctly different about it, but the bass, rocky lake, and forest fire remind me a lot of home here on the north shore of Lake Superior. Would not have expected that but it was really cool to feel connected to a place on the other side of the world. That heat would've killed me though. Calm and authentic presentation, excellent videography and audio, combined with little things like using beeswax wrap and laughing things off... Love your style my friend.

Thanks a lot mate! Glad to hear you enjoyed it. Yep, the heat sure was brutal. And summer has only just started! haha I enjoy watching your vids as well mate. First it’s nice to see a piece of home in Australia, your canoe was built 35 miles from my house one Old Town, Maine. Secondly you need to get yourself a “puddin’ stick” for maneuvering while you’re fishing. A “puddin’ stick” is a short small bladed paddle two to three feet long that you can run one handed while you handle the rod with your other hand. They work very well in brushy situations like when you snag in a tree from a less than stellar cast. Great video as always, it’s 35* F here and snowing to beat the band so the green trees and blue sky down there is a welcome sight.

Another killer vid scotty. As a guy that has grown up on a river full of Aussie bass, dont listen the the Americans saying strike at the fish, this is not the way to fish for Australian Bass. Slow down your retrieve and let your lure (if fishing the surface as you were) sit for maybe 5 seconds, maybe more after it has hit the water. If it lands upside down, one twitch should flip it over and let it sit there. Even then, a few very light twitches and let it sit again before moving it out of the strike zone on the retrieve. More often than not a bass will strike on the pause and let it take the lure down before lightly loading the rod, then keep the tension on. Good luck bro, there is nothing better than time on the end of a rod for mastering these iconic Aussie fish.

I'm a catch and release fly fisherman, so when I get a good take, and the fish auto-releases before it gets to the net, I consider that a bonus. The fun is in getting them to take the lure.

Hi Scotty, your video skills are really great. Your are really telling a story with your editing, music selection, camera angles etc. Many thanks! I find that wearing light cotton long sleeves while kayaking and fishing work for the sun burn issue. Don't spend money on the long sleeve fishing shirts by Shimano etc. They are a mix of fibres, and are dreadful in higher humidities. Pull up and wind down even on the smaller fish, especially when you are using barbless trebles.

Keep the line tight Scotty, slow and steady is good, but you must keep the tension on that line. You gotta set the hook mate, and according to the fishing app I’m using, spinner baits are the best for catching Bass. Great work though my friend. Keep it up.
