Wild Deer Salt Lick Party!

Deer Friends!
Because of your comments on my last video, I spent some DOE on a salt lick for the DEER that keep licking me like a lollipop.
It sounded like a Good I-deer.
I showed up in the dark…holding this thing like I’m some sort of a…HOOF Fairy, and the deer were acting a little weird…until I gave one a little tickle.
To humour me back, they actually licked this salt lick…then perhaps to show their appreciation…or just to be silly, they decided they’d rather lick me instead!
Now, some folks might assume that because I'm all chummy with these wild animals, I must hate hunters…but that’s not true.
I try to turn judgement into compassion.
We’re all on our own journey.
Hunting is a part of creations grand plan in our deer lives.
And some of the people I love and respect most dearly are hunters…
I showed my finger gun to the deer to see what they thought:
and they gave it a kiss…
It's like they were saying “After all that’s happened between us, we still love humans, including the hunters.”
I spent 10 bucks on that salt lick… but giving it to the deer made me feel like a million bucks.

I lived in the middle of nowhere for most of my life. Because of that, my father had a little grove of fruit trees and a vegetable garden that was always getting attacked by deer. we ended up hiring a hunter to come onto the property and help us maintain the population in which we would get part of the meat he received back from each kill. After he quit due to health complications in his older years, he left behind a salt block, and I didn’t know what that was. I was probably about seven or eight at the time and I was walking through the woods around my property just exploring, as children do, and I came across this rock. I don’t know what possessed me to lick it, but I did, and it was salty. I remember being super confused for a few seconds, and then realizing what it was, and then being absolutely mortified that I had likely indirectly kissed a bunch of deer. I ran screaming back to the house to tell my parents. They of course, found it hilarious and wouldn’t stop laughing, my seven-year-old self was absolutely distraught, and couldn’t understand why they were laughing. I’m now young adult, and I still find this story particularly funny. 😭😂

I remeber we had a young buck that roamed around our land that was clearly bottle rasied. We just treated him as a pet and he was off limits for hunting. Sadly though despite the tag in his ear(we found him with one) I am pretty sure he wandered onto someone elses property and became dinner. Will miss Jethro. And yes my family is full of NCIS nerds.

With the lack of predators from extended civilization, it's up to select hunters in certain seasons to take up that role. I had a job in the oil industry. We went to different states and laid out cables and batteries and geophones in 50 square mile grids to look for oil underground. We went to new york one time and in the rural areas, we found a deer in the woods with a ribbon tied around its neck. It came right up to us like it was nothing. It acted like a dog. Following us, playing, chasing us etc. It followed us for a good couple miles.

I rescued a newborn buck from a coyote and raised him till he was big enugg survive on his own ,he would follow me all around my neighborhood and people would stop and ask if i knew a deer was followin me lol. Hes still n my neighborhood hes a big buck now hoping he survives this season he dont allow me touch him but he will stand his distance and listen me talk to him. I love it best experience

In my culture (Menominee) we hunt, but we always use everything from the animal (down to the bones, the tissue, the fat, the blood, everything) and not just the meat, to show our appreciation to that animal for giving their life to us so we can survive and be healthy. In return, we sort of honor them in a way by making sure nothing is wasted from their sacrifice. I think Mother Nature is such a beautiful thing , how we are all connected so deeply in a way

I appreciate you for being respectful to hunters we all have different options,views,morals etc. I respect and enjoy wildlife rather its watching them, getting to have encounters with them like you did with the salt block and yes hunting too. As hard as it may seem to believe that when I take the life of an animal I’m not glad I did it’s not the taking of the life that gives me a sense of accomplishment it really is about putting food in the freezer that I truly earned by overcoming the challenges of hunting versus going to the store and buying meat pumped full of hormones,chemicals,fillers,etc. Most hunters I talk to feel the same way and don’t get some sort of blood thirsty thrill from taking a life we actually do feel some remorse to some extent, but the benefits of doing it make it worth it.
