Nobody is FORCED to wear a poppy. We also don't say "happy" veterans/ armistice/ remembrance day. It's not a happy day, it's a day to commemorate those who were lost in wars. Also, FWIW, the UK's National Health Service came about because of the need to provide care after the war. Council (/social) housing also came about after WWI, because of the number of men lost in the war. We do look after our armed forces - and everyone else too.

This is a great lesson for our kids. This truly is a man's world. Remember, economic policy lags. He has not taken office yet, and even when he does it's going to take months to implement new policies. And when they are implemented it will take even longer for them to start moving the overall economy in one direction or another. I suspect we have all of 2025 to look forward to as still being Biden's strong economy. But let's not forget how long it took Trump to ruin Obama's economy the first time. The rampant greed in the forms of bull markets and tax cuts for the rich came the first year. Followed by a cool-off the next 2 years. Followed by chaos and complete havoc in the final year, mostly thanks to COVID but also thanks to the other Virus. Trump's economy persisted well into 2022, when economists were all saying a recession was inevitable and inflation was growing at a scary pace. That recession was averted only because Biden added thousands upon thousands of jobs to the economy as fast as he could. Anyway, the first 1-3 years will still be Biden's economy. After that, it's anyone's guess. It took Bush W about 8 years to get us into a recession and it took Trump about 5 years. The first time. I would expect an acceleration this time due to cronyism and abject short term greed with no guardrails. Biden's economy will start falling apart in 2026-2027 as Republican anti-free-market policies begin to take hold.

Those angry about the election, there is a great way to show our strength. Indefinite shopping boycot. Essentials only, similar to 2020.
