My first bars were a disaster too. My embeds fell out while the client was showing and she wanted a refund. We learn from our mistakes and make it better next time. :)

This is melt and pour soap base.
@shreyachakraborty63263 жыл бұрын
This is one of my favourites. I wish you would make something with honey and almond milk and swirl. I would love to see that. Can you tell me at what temps did you pour the bases?
@DeanWilson3 жыл бұрын
I don't add any food like honey to my soaps, specially not melt and pour as the saponification process has already taken place. This might be ok in Cold Process soap but not M&P bases. The temps would have been low, between 110 and 115

This looks beautiful! And as usual, a great video! I noticed you didn't use goats milk for the white swirl, was that because the difference in density causes the goats milk to sink somewhat?
@DeanWilson8 жыл бұрын
Yes, at the last minute I changed my mind with the goats milk. It was on the setup table. But because the 2 loafs were it clear base I just used the titanium dioxide.

@taramalhotra98047 жыл бұрын
Hi Dean your videos are so inspirational, it makes me want to make a new soap everyday! I'm new to m&p and I'm having trouble understanding how to calculate EO and FO percentages in small batches of soap. I'm actually struggling! Not taken any professional classes trying to learn from the best on KZbin :) Could you please do a short video on that? For example how much to put in a 58 gram soap?
@DeanWilson7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Tara. I will try and explain this the best I can. If you want 2% fragrance oil. 1000 grams of soap divide by 100 = 10 x 2% = 20grams In your example of 58 grams of soap 58 grams divide by 100 = 0.58 x 2% = 1.16 grams Hope that helps.
@taramalhotra98047 жыл бұрын
HI Dean thank you so much for your reply :) that really makes things simpler for me. But how much oil should a 58 gram soap ideally have? How does one decide that?
@DeanWilson7 жыл бұрын
It will depend on the base you buy from the supplier. For all my melt and pour soaps, I do 2% or 3%, but that also depends on the fragrance you use. Some have 0.5% up to 5% fragrance oils
@taramalhotra98047 жыл бұрын
Dean Wilson so I should be checking with the supplier about the percentage for each EO/FO or are there standard measures for each one that I could get of the web? I also want to send you a photo of a beautiful soap I saw online and want to request you to do a tutorial on that whenever you find time :)
@DeanWilson7 жыл бұрын
sure. My email is dean@sentinelsoap.com.au Yes, best check with your supplier. I have some fragrances that cant be used for soaps at all.

Love your video; I watched several before it and yours is by far the best!!! Do you see the face in the bar of soap when you hold it in front of the light? I know you were going for fire but it also looks like a face.
