That is a wonderful observation Adele... I definitely felt more alive there than in most places I've been, but didn't consciously realise that until now! It was so beautiful, but also the landscape had a really strong atmosphere to it too... I can't quite put into words how it felt, but it really unlocked something in me. It's a really special area, I can see why it's one of the most popular places to visit in Scotland x

Hello Cloe Rose, couldn't help but notice the long stemmed white fluffy (plume) plants that you see from the window. They look very much like our 'ToeToe' (AustrodriaToetoe) plant that is a native of NZ. There is the South American Pampas grass that looks like our 'ToeToe'. If it is 'ToeToe' (said as toytoy) then it is a good survival food, It is a distant cousin of the 'Sugarbeet' plant . If you follow the stem down to the root and cut the stem at its base you can chew it. It contains sugars and starches. Chew it and then spit out the fibers (only when the stem is green). The fluffy part can be wrapped in a handkerchief and used as padding on a wound. I am very surprised to see it in Scotland. It is one of hundreds that I instruct in the use of. Enjoyed the video ATB Cheers from the mountains of NZ 😀😀

That is so interesting... I'm not actually confident on it's ID myself. I am very weak on my flora, much better at fauna. I would have said Pampas grass, but only because that's the only plant I was aware of that looked like it... having looked up your ToeToe now, they look incredibly similar! It's not common at all here in Scotland, the only times I've seen it have been in gardens, so I think it must be an import people have planted themselves. Amazing to hear of all it's useful properties.... ethnobotany is something I would love to dedicate time to in the future. You must have such a wealth of knowledge (and such useful knowledge too!).

Fantastic Chloe. I must say I've swam wild my whole life and although cold has been a part of it there's never been a complaint afterwards. It's the same for you it appears. You simply get out buzzing and hey mellow as a cello later. Lovely cabin - always nice. But it was the lost valley I was looking forward to. I was up there in 2017 in the exact same conditions but with scenery and a trail like that it did not matter at all especially when reaching the awesome valley up top. If you want to see my version it's called: The Lost Valley Glencoe - Discovering Scotland. Well, good going - you've been about lately. Mark

I can really see now why it's been a part of your life. I've been very slow, and honestly rather resistant to the uptake (me and cold don't normally cope very well together!) but the benefits are clear and it is really helping to rewrite my relationship with cold, which is wonderful. You are right, the weather doesn't affect the enjoyment of the valley at all does it (and arguably adds to it). Such an epic place, I will definitely check your experience out. Thank you Mark, all the best :)

What an absolutely stunning place! Just everywhere and everything you look at is breath taking. I've been wanting to go to Scotland for so long now, especially as I've been watching quite a few YT videos of people wild camping, hiking or driving around Scotland, so I'm hoping to get there next year when I'm back in the UK. Just got to do it! 😊 As for the 'wild' swim 😜 I'd be more like you, hopping about, taking deep breaths and taking an age to get in! 😂 I could literally 'feel' how cold it was through my screen 🥶 that I had to turn my heater up!!! 🤣 Congratulations on your move to Scotland as well, and thanks for another lovely episode Chloe 😎

This was spectacular! Love that hobbit hole hut you stayed at, it looked so cozy and fitted perfect in those surroundings. I'm proud of you for taking that wild swim, and you're right; it would almost be disrespectful not to in such a majestic place haha I can't get over those views! It's like you went through a portal to another realm or something. It's just breathtaking and you filmed it so beautifully! When you walked up that mountain with valley in the background, it gave such good perspective of how small you were in these surroundings. Those trails looked a little sketchy though, I can imagine that you need good shoes for that especially with that kind of weather that makes it slippery. Ohh and those last shots with the blue skies, sheep, the sun on the mountains - I'm blown away. I have to go there! And I hope that your dreams come true, that you'll get a piece of land one day that made you feel like how you felt in this video. Just amazing! And I can't wait for your new adventures!

Yes, another realm, that is exactly what it felt like! I am glad a bit of the scale of the landscape came through. It can be hard to capture such vast mountains on a tiny phone! It definitely felt a little sketchy in places, especially when scrambling alongside raging water. I definitely wouldn't have done it if I didn't trust the grip on my boots. I think you would love it there! I felt so inspired to paint... I would love to see you make an image of those landscapes with your skill. Hello Chloe. You had asked me the other day in a comment on another channel about what I've experienced since I've been earthing/grounding. The main benefit is better quality sleep. I used to have really bad occurrences of insomnia, now I don't. And I generally have an overall feeling of well being. I sleep grounded and ground as much as possible during the day. It really works. I have family and friends who are skeptical and all I tell them is to try it for themselves. Might I suggest you look this lady up on KZbin...Dr. Laura Koniver. She has many great videos on earthing. I love your videos and send best wishes to you and Josh. ✌️

Hi Chloe. Respect for you & Josh for getting in the cold loch. It wouldn't so much be wild swimming for me as wild drowning :-) Beautiful landscapes in any weather but Glencoe I think more than anywhere else in Scotland suits the mist & rain. It is easy to get lost in the atmosphere of the place given it's sad history. Absolutely delighted to hear of your re-location. I have spent so many summer holidays around Aviemore & Nethy Bridge in one of my favourite areas on Earth, the Cairngorms. I hope to bump into you some day maybe in the Rothiemurchus forest, the Laraig Ghru, Loch an Eilean or maybe Ben Macdui. Take care mate xx

Haha, if I'm honest, I can't really claim to have wild swam either - more like a wild 'dip'! I agree - rainy/misty conditions can make hiking difficult at times, but I think it's definitely the most beautiful weather for the landscape. Especially if you're all cosy in a hut! I am feeling so lucky to have moved here, and cannot wait to share more videos with you. Hopefully a few of them might be visiting places you've hiked too - I'd love to hear if there is any cross over. I would absolutely love it if we crossed paths! What a story that would be, bumping into one another in the wilds of the Cairngorms... all the best Michael :) x

Loved watching this! We love wild swimming, back at the beginning of 2020 we were in Russia heading to Japan and we swam in the sea of Japan...it was frozen and they had cut out a hole in the ice. We paid the equivalent of £2 for the privilege. It was so cold, fair to say I only dunked myself in! Waterproof trousers are on my list too. My current pair are so old and definitely not waterproof anymore...the wet Welsh weather in October last year showed me just how questionable their waterproof-ness was 😂

Oh how exciting!! The whole area is so gorgeous at the moment with all the snow. There's literally every camping/outdoor store going in Aviemore, so you will have no trouble at all getting hold of whatever you need. And one of the blessings at this time of year is that you don't have to worry about midgies! They are fair-weather summer fellows and don't like the cold at this time of year. There's a nice loop near Loch Morlich that goes up the corbett Meall a' Bhuachaille if you like that kind of walk (www.walkhighlands.co.uk/cairngorms/meallabhuachaille.shtml) - although with it being winter, you'd need to look at weather carefully etc. and decide if you have the right gear to go up. It's nothing like going up Cairn Gorm or Ben Macdui but in winter you can never be too careful. If staying low, then the forests all around Loch Morlich are beautiful, and you can also hike along to the Green Loch from there which would give you good hilly snowy views without having to go up them. I hope you get some good weather!
