Years ago one of my science teachers told us there is no such thing as a weed, only a plant that was growing where you didn’t want it.

A cup of the tea is my replacement for Sudafed. I also eat it in my spring greens. I dehydrate and powder it as a green powder and I ferment it, dehydrate it on low and grind it up as fermented green salt. The fermented powder 'wakes up' in the gut for all the ferment benefits; table salt only for the fermented one or you kill the good stuff.

Dead nettle colonizes my garden beds in early spring. I leave as much as I can for the bees as I plant around it. Great plant.

“God is amazing to me how he gives us everything that we need we just need to know where to look” I LOVE THIS! Absolutely! I tell my kids this all the time! ❤ we just harvested some dead nettle that magically came up outa no where in our herb garden this year! I really believe God presents us with plants that our body needs we just have to go out n look for them! Somehow he just knows and the plants show up! Something I do with my kids is THANK HIM and the plants we harvest as we pick them! I love teaching them about these things…I hope as they get older they will remember these times we share and use this knowledge to heal there own families one day! Green blessings to u!!! 🌱

Thank you Meagan I will absolutely be harvesting the chickweed that grows in the yard this spring. I’ve been eaten alive my whole life by mosquitoes. I’m definitely going to make a chickweed poultice for the millions of bites I get from them. Thank you for this wonderful bit of knowledge ❤ PS I was telling a friend of mine last week that the earth has every plant etc that humans need to survive WITHOUT taking so many chemicals aka PILLS. ( For the most part) it’s 10/14/2024 right now I’m doing some more binge watching of my favorite KZbin channel ❤

@TrueGritAppalachianWays2 жыл бұрын
I usually leave it laying out for a good 7-10 days, once the leaves are super crunchy then it's ready to put up. You can put it in your dehydrator but I have red that kills some of the medicinal benefits, so I like to just lay mine out.

I have tons of dead nettle in my yard. I recently removed the screens from my windows; think I’ll use them for drying these for tea. I also have lots of chickweed I put in salads or cook with other greens. It can be chopped finely and added to egg or ham salad sandwich filling. I’m on a savage quest to rip out the gazillion Cleavers also growing by the ton in my yard. I know they have their uses but are horrible to live with. From green, to dead and dry, to the seeds, they stick in my dogs coats, feet, etc. They’re in my rugs, furniture, bed, blankets. They’re a menace to society.🤬
