I wonder if the heat from Purple Dead Nettle has anything to do with it containing niacin, (also known as vitamin B3). Niacin is an essential vitamin that plays an important role in energy production and the maintenance of healthy skin, nerves, and digestion. Purple Dead Nettle is also a good source of other important nutrients, including vitamins A and C, calcium, and iron.

I watched this video yesterday, and today when out walking the dogs, I started spotting this EVERYWHERE. I used your description of the shape of the leaves, the square hollow stem to identify it. I know I've seen it around, but never REALLY noticed it before, but I'm starting to see a lot of things that my brain used to filter out. Makes me wonder what I'm still not seeing. :) Keep up what you're doing, your channel is a balm to my soul in all the craziness.

To my eyes purple dead nettle looks like a mint, whereas stinging nettle has much longer stems and broad leaves. Stinging nettle gets its name because it irritates the skin. Stinging nettle is supposed to be very nutritious and allegedly helps with allergies when taken medicinally, but I don't know much more than that and I would NEVER try to use a plant I hadn't thoroughly researched for myself, so you should read up on both of them instead of taking my word for it because I'm often wrong about a lot of stuff.

Hi there! Fellow Virginia here. I love the channel. I’m sure you know this already, but Purple dead-nettle (Lamium purpureum) is not a weed, but an invasive species. It is native to parts of Europe and Western Asia. It crowds out native species in VA, include various phlox and other early flowering plants. When I saw that plate of seeds you were going to spread I audibly yelled “noooooo”. Save the seeds for your quail! That’s what they love most about the plant.
