Also boys, Kenny Dryden played 6 regular season games before he won the conn smythe and Stanley cup, I meant to say he won the conn smythe and Stanley cup before his rookie season!

A couple things: when it comes to Glenn Hall's 501 consecutive games played as a goalie, don't forget, he never once wore a mask. The year Lemieux got cancer and scored 160 pts in 60 gp, the schedule was actually 84 games, had he played all the games, almost certainly, he would have easily broken Gretzky's record. As for Nicholls' 150 pt season, he was playing the wing for Gretzky that year, he never scored more than 100 without him.

He actually had 100 points previous to Gretzky going to L A

I know, I said he never had MORE than 100 without Gretzky.

Saying he most likely would have beaten ..... is purely speculation and has no point in reality. That's like saying if Austen Matthew's had kept up the 4 goals a game pace of his first NHL game, he would have most likely scored 328 goals that season. Staying healthy is integral to setting these kinds of records. Just look at Howe, Gretzky, and Ovechkin. Mario didn't have it, and neither did Mike Bossy.

That year, Lemieux was averaging 2.67 pts per game, if he played the games he missed and “only” had a 2.33 ppg avg, he would have broken the record.

That Turgeon card with Kindergarten Kane is fantastic. My brother and cousin were in the crowd behind David Wells when they snapped the front page pic after his no hitter. Love spotting people in the crowd shots.

Bobby Orr was born after Gordie Howe's first NHL game, and he was in the hall of fame before Howe's final NHL game.

If you know hockey most of these arent suprising at all. 92-93 was the highest scoring NHL season in history... everyone around at the time had their best season ever! IDK if it was shitty goaltending, the way the refs were calling the games, faster smoother ice, a change to the pucks, a little bit of everything, that will never be repeated even though once again we are in the new offensive era mirroring the 80s and early 90s era of offense. Its unfortunate because so many players will be looked at by unintelligent hockey casuals as lesser players because they didn't put up as many points in that 96 97 to 03 04 era especially. Jagr, Selanne, Sundin, Alfredsson, Lidstrom, Sakic, Yzerman, Messier, Turgeon, Tkachuk, Roenick, Gilmour, Blake, Kariya, Amonte, Lindros, Leclair, Brind'amour, you name it. All of their point totals could easily be +100 to +300 if they'd come along a little earlier, or if they came along after the trap era. Notice how suddenly in 05-06 after the trap era ended with the removal of the red line, everyones PPG I just mentioned who was in their prime like Selanne Brind'amour and Alfredsson for example went up with the rule changes. Even players since the 05-06 rule changes,,, look at Ovechkin. 04-05 rookie season cancelled. Lost games cause of the 2012-13 lockout and covid, take even SOME of that and give it back to Ovi and he'd have 900 goals already. Give him all 160 or so games he missed cause of these things? He'd have been shooting for 1000 career when this season started. Hockey eras mean everything, and a lot of these facts you will understand perfectly if you are able to compare each era properly. Others like Jagr for example, if he'd played his whole career in the NHL and didn't have the 4 total years overseas, obviously he left during his prime and would have added 300-350 more points we can assume to his total and he'd be WELL OVER 2000 points, same with Howe and going to the WHA.

I enjoyed these facts, but felt it difficult to follow along with some of the transitions between them. I think using text graphics with name of player (and year) or a brief description of the fact would make it easier to follow.

The part oft overlooked in the Giggy run… and probably because of who they were… Brodeur had 7 goose eggs that same year including 3 vs Giggy in the finals. Dude had a shut out nearly 50% of the won games and we never talk about it

Just for the record, here is what Gretzky did. 1981-82 - 102 points in 38 games 1983-84 - 100 points in 34 games 1984-85 - 105 points in 35 games So that's 3 seasons ahead of that Lemieux pace. He had a couple more that were just behind as well. Both those guys were crazy good.

Gordie Howe's professional career was spent in two leagues. So his numbers a a bit skewed.

You sure are crying quite a bit about Crosby. I'm guessing you're a Flyers or Caps "fan." Crosby is a top 5 ALL TIME player, and you're just jelly.

60yrs old. Was my fav sport of all time but just like everything else I used to enjoy it has been politicized and ruined by mostly people who don't even watch it. I am thankful that there are decades of video to watch, because sports today is just sad, weak and pathetic.
