Question for the boys. Are we going to see the 200 and the 62 out together on a touring trip. It would be awesome to see them and maybe Jocko’s new tradie lux on one of the iconic buck list tracks like the canning stock route or the Simpson. Something that family’s can get out and do on a bit of a budget.

Land Rover Discovery 1 300tdi, one of the most capable 4wds ever, coils all round, reliable when looked after, they don't always leak, I've owned 4 and not one has had leak issues, flex is some of the best there is, very economical 2.5L turbo diesel, no electrical issues, strong for a 4 cylinder, the show definitely need some on it in budget rig episodes, they're awesome rigs

Question for 4wd 24-7: Would you rather spend your money on a well established new 4wd or buy a cheaper older 4wd with more mods and accessories?
@FJaypewpew2 жыл бұрын
decent q though honestly i think most people when it comes down to it, would prefer older 4wds where their quirks and issues are already pretty well known like my inital reaction to your question is "theres about 100 more sensors on modern things than anything from the 80-2000's era vehicles, and they are getting tired, and buying new does in a way prevent having any massive headaches from massive failure. but also, if a car is still kicking 10-20-30 years later, i mean its either on its last legs or its just going to keep trucking if you get me new will always be better, but how long till the first big upset and howmuch will that cost you if its out of warranty spose new gives warranty ofcouse so yeah thats a pretty good question for sure

Best Stock 4Wd ever made, is a Mercedes Benz W461 G300. It will wipe the floor with any other Stock 4WD out of the factory even today. Everyone Talks about the GU's, about the entire Landcruiser Range, and even the old Defenders, none of them can hold a candle to a G-Wagon. There is a reason why the Militray has gone that route. Also (not that it's available in Australia), if you really want to go top of the line, there is nothing cooler than a G 4x4 Squared, or even the 6x6 variant available in Dubai.

@@jarrod1687 I have A 2001 G290 TD with the OM 602 engine, it has 470 000 Kms on the clock. I've only replaced the Alernator recently and Viscous Fan acouple of years ago. I spend every oppertunity I can get in the bush with it has not failed me yet. I do once a year grease the entire drivetrain, replace oils etc, and 3 years ago had to replace TC mountings (at which point I also replaced all the engine mountings just in case), but other than that she's purring along perfectly. Also the G Wagon engines are de-tuned from factory to increase logevity so not fair to compare it against a standard benz. When it comes to reliability of the Drivetrain / Ladder Frame chassis, its obvious that the engineering of the parts on the G-Wagon is engineerd with Military use in mind. Had a mate a few years ago, who got into a side-collision with a Hilux that skipped a traffic light. The G-wagon had cosmetic damage, he drove away no issues. Hilux had a bent chassis and was a complete writeoff.
