Man I remember watching a lot of these in person. I'm just glad that I've never had to hear "driver sustained severe injuries" or worse.

Between the starting line and the finishing line. The quarter mile is one unforgiving piece of asphalt.

For sure...the worst was Gordon Crowe's Willys crash, but most certainly a testament to the chassis he builds. He was banged up for a while, but returned to what he does best.

A guy I knew didn't get slowed enough once and came back to the pit road with corn stalks hanging on the bumper.

Hey DSR , I'm writing my fifth book , and it's got some drag racing in it , big time , I was wondering if you can answer a specific question for me , how much horsepower did a top fuel funny car put out in 1983.???
@DragStripRiot6 жыл бұрын
Klinger! Back to the single pump/mag days...yay....estimates are they were around 4k HP for the early 80s. Late 70s it was around 2k, and by the 90s, in the 8k range.

Yeah, it was and it did....came back into his lane/wall on fire. Knocked him out...and this happened during the Thursday open test session of the 2012 March Meet. Horrible way to start the season.

Drag Strip Riot Jake is a good friend of mine and he is very impressive tuning a fuel motor at his age. Thanks for the vids I love them . I work on the Cali Charger and the snap on big show car. If we go some rounds in phenix cruz said we will bring the charger to the March meet.

Agree about Jake's tuning ability at such a young age. Every now and then the nitro god can be very humbling. Good luck down in Phoenix, and if you make it to Bako...there too. We're going to be elsewhere that weekend. Thanks again for following. P.S. I don't know how long you have worked with Cruz, but we may have already crossed paths in Norwalk at the Night Under Fire....ScottRods AA/Gassers after race parties. ;-) ~Dawn
