@Red X You shouldn't keep wild caught animals. Capturing a wild caught specimen is incredibly stressful for them and they don't often survive long, dying from the stress. They're also typically ridden with parasites and other wild pathogens, which can also be devastating to his other reptiles. It's also ecologically the same thing as killing it, as you're removing it from the wild, and thus removing it's impact on the ecosystem. There's a huge base of captive bred retics, he can get one of those if he wants one

The fact that he’s so calm when you hold him makes me think he’s a pet someone released🥺
@yami-no-kami35864 жыл бұрын
Could sadly be true. His colors and patterns are exactly what you'd be looking for, if you want a beautiful snake. So it really wouldn't surprise me if his life began in some breeding facility, he got unlucky and got a owner who would just release their pets if they don't want them any longer.

This snake reminds me of a snake I once had to "rescue" in terms of character and personality. I was doing voluntary work at the local animal shelter and in the afternoon I was working in the parrot section when I suddenly saw this long snake and I asked the other ladies if they want me to bring it outside. They said yes and were happy that the snake would be finally out of the building. It was a beautiful 5ft long aesculapian snake, who was as gentle, calm and relaxed as a well-desensitized pet snake. As if it was just like "you know what? As long as you don't hurt me you can do whatever you want to do with me and I'll be just chilling and cooperating." It was a beautiful and magical experience to handle a wild snake so successfully.
