I traveled to Borneo. The people love children. If you travel with kids, they give you extra help. I saw fathers playing with their kids everywhere. Just an amazing people! It’s perfect that they are in charge of the gentle orangutans.

Fascinating to watch them. They are so human like you have to concentrate that they are apes. The schooling seems to be going really well. You would expect to see them run off, and yet they love to be with their care givers. To me it seems more natural to have women doing this job. I think the more demanding experience is best served by them, and thus the most good for the orangutans.

You people do commendable work without you these orangutans would have no chance of living in the forest. I have always been curious what is the success rate of the orangutans once they are reintroduced into the forest? I have read some papers that state the success rate is very low and most orangutans disappear, die or have to be recaptured. Just curious it's a tough job taking a mothers place.

I love the orangutans, absolutely love them. Typically spend a couple hours per day watching videos of them. However, I don't buy that we share 97% DNA with these great apes! There's no possible way. Essentially that would mean humans are only capable of being 3% smarter than an orangutan. As I mentioned earlier, I love them but they're not smart at all. We send our species to the moon and beyond while orangutans urinate into their own mouths daily yet there's only 3% difference??? I'm not buying it.

Why are the care takers wearing all that ppe?....if it is because of the damn Covid-19, then, why until now? Haven’t seen them wearing it in past episodes...weird!
@BorneoOrangutanSurvival4 жыл бұрын
The seasons of Orangutan Jungle School were filmed before the COVID19 pandemic. These streams were filmed especially for followers by the staff for this year's Orangutan Day. It's not known if orangutans can contract COVID, so the additional PPE is to protect the orangutans from any possible human transmission of the virus.

@Borneo Orangutan Survival UK - I understand you wanna prevent the orangutans from catching any human viruses or germs but why wear additional ppe till now, why wasn’t it worn since all the filming started?

@@BorneoOrangutanSurvival Can they get other viruses from us? Like the common cold or something like that? I seem to recall from an episode of the show that there was a flu outbreak. Is that correct?
