I have seen this film more times than I could possibly count, my favourite of all since 1983. I have played the music over and over, on vinyl, cd, cassette and iTunes. I love everything about it, the story, the characters, the beautiful Scottish scenery, the music, the humour, the message of the film. And I still weep from the first notes of the very remarkable soundtrack, it invokes so many memories of the last 37 years of my life. Thank you for posting this lovely little postcard from a true diamond of a movie

Agree with all of the comments, one of the greatest films ever made, with a message that is even more relevant and powerful now as it was then and as for the score..what more can I say, but simply the genius of Bill Forsyth is matched by the genius of Mark Knopfler.

A surprise hit wee film that began the whole rural Brits being twee and quirky in my opinion. Lilting, haunting music that tenderly envisions wild Scotland and it beautiful vistas. My favorite, painful makes me cry part is when Peter Riegert's character gets home and starts "pulling Scotland" out of his pockets so wistfully, I welled up. And I am not a sentimentalist. The change in the music as he steps on his balcony - heartbreak, pure heartbreak and movie music magic.

This is my favorite movie ever made to this day-loved it in 1983 & still do..Not to be morbid or anything but this is the song that I've requested to be played at my funeral. Now that's how much I love Mark Knopfler's music!! Now that's dedication!! LOL

Drove from zAberdeen to Inverness , I had a rotten cold but was a great drive ( I am from Melbourne, Australia.). I saw that town on my map didn’t realise what it was . I have a love affair with Scotland including all the redhead women . I was freezing in Aberdeen & local schoolgirls were wearing summer uniforms..
