You should be able to use the external hard drives to transfer data. Even if for some reason they get deleted you can always redownload the games from the store and redownload the save data from the cloud. Hope this helps!

Depending on your network speed I guess you could always sign into your account and downloand the games again. The cloud will save your game saves. Guess it just depends on how you wanna do it.

@@zelo487 I had an external so I just plugged it into my series x whenever I got it and I could immediately play all the games that were on it. If you don’t have an external, I’d recommend getting one if possible. There are some relatively cheap ones and it made it pretty easy. You can just move all the games that are on your console to the external drive and then plug the external into your new console and you’re good to go! Hope this helps

So is the Series X using the same formatting system as the One thus allowing one to simply unplug an external drive from the One and into the Series? That is the best option for me. Anything requiring me to download anymore than necessary over the internet is a problem. Home network fine, but if it is just using the old console as a list to tell the new console what to download from the internet then that is more than useless to me with extremely limited internet options

If it's a smart delivery title, or if it has a Series X|S enhancement, it will download a free patch.

@@juiceboyosue6140 No actually, Activision are greedy, they charge $10 extra to receive a next gen upgrade for both PS5 and Series X. But you can still play the Xbox One version and maybe PS4 version through backwards compatibility.
