Great how-to video!! Thank you! I was stuck until I found this clip. However, I did have one hiccup: I couldn't figure out how to save my save game data to my PS4 external drive. Not a problem though, I just used an LAN cable for that. And I purposely excluded trophy data, so hopefully I can re-earn those trophies when I replay the games ;)

I tried doing the external hard drive part with GTA 5. I moved my PS4 data to the external hard drive and put it in the ps5. Long story short, I lost the game save data. It didn’t come up on my ps5 but the trophy progress was there. I don’t know if I didn’t something wrong or what not, but I went back to the PS4 and now that saved data can’t be read.. I was a little frustrated with that. Even my Call of duty campaign. Nothing transferred over 😔

Please help! I bought a PS5, but I sold my PS4 pro prior to that, so there was no clear cut directions to backup saves. What I did is the same process I did when you swap out the PS4 pro internal HD. I did a full system backup. So my question is, if I get another PS4 pro at factory settings, can I do a system restore with the backup files on my external Hd? If yes, can I then use that same drive to copy the saves back over, but using the correct method. Or was my system backup locked to my original PS4 pro. I have tons of save data I can't live without that I need to get on my PS5. Please help! Thank you!

Each time you play same game on both consoles, it will suspend it on the other console. You will need to keep syncing your data.

Bro every time I log in to ps5 the only option I see is sign in doesn’t give me the option to transfer my ps4 data to ps5

Go to System PS5 data transfer and automatically will transfer after and connected your pS4 in the same TV with LAN cable only and the PS5 with your WiFi networks and systems both running so fast to transfer your games 😉

You'll need to sign in first so that the PS5 knows who you are and which data is yours.

I know im late but still hoping for a reaction. How does this work if you want multiple accounts on 1 console with different saves etc? Do you just switch accounts on both consoles and do the same transfer?

Since I have only 1 monitor, does my PS4 need to be connected with the HDMI cable with the monitor for the transfer process, or it just needs to be turned on only?

So all I need to do is just put my external in to the ps5 and all my games and dlc will transfer as long as I use the same psn account

That's right. You can also download the data from the store and the cloud. Or use a USB cable to connect them.
