One thing I wanted to say was that a common thing in kpop that a lot of people find odd at first is how many times one song switches the style/sound. It's pretty obvious in this one with the rapping immediately followed by the softer singing plus the strong chorus and the dance break at the end. This happened as well in BTS - ON too. It can be a little overwhelming for some people, but personally I think it keeps the song fresh and interesting all the way through. Also, as you clearly saw in this and ON and Daechwita, Korean music videos go HARD. They have crazy sets, insane outfits and makeup, complex choreographies, and impressive editing. I've been into kpop for over 2 years now and (most) western music just falls so flat to me now! It's usually one sound all the way through, with boring music videos, and lame performances (there are a few artists with great stuff but a lot of it doesnt compare imo) I hope to see more kpop content soon, it really is a whole new world to explore!! I'm also definitely subbing and watching others so I can be introduced to new music too!!

to be honest, I don't feel like lyrics are THAT important when it comes to blackpink songs because they can be kind of generic BUT they have outstanding visuals and styles so i think just watching the music video for their quality can suffice. to each their own, but its always cool and respectful to try to understand something thats not in your native language anyway so its appreciated that you do that

Blackpink is the one group that got me into kpop and I love them a lot. If you want to check out more of them DDU DU is pretty much THE song everybody recommends (me too) but Forever Young and Don't know what to do are also some of my favorites. If you want to check out other groups I recommend A.C.E (Undercover or Savage, a group not that well known), Stray Kids (Miroh or God's Menu, which just got released) Or Ateez (Wonderland or Hala Hala) :)

There is one girl who isn’t a Korean, she is a Thai. Her name is Lisa the one who kicked the door. And the two of the girls, Rosé and Jennie are korean but really good in English. Rosé is born in New Zealand but raised in Australia cuz they moved there and Jennie studied in New Zealand. Jennie is the on ewith the swans and Rosé is the one who sang the bridge. From what I've picked up from other reactions, this song is about loving yourself and letting go of the past. At the beginning, Rosé is running herself over with a car with the license plate EGO on it. It has something to do with her driving being the Super Ego, the car being the Ego, and her in the street being the Id. Then in the middle of the song Jisoo is shooting herself with an arrow, and killing her old self (her weak self). The lyrics say that they can't stand being weak, so they have to kill their weakness and their love in order to be stronger.

Blackpink is one of the top female kpop groups right now. What you won't be able to understand about that tidbit is they've remained the top of their class despite releasing very little music, comparatively. Talk about a loyal fanbase, to basically keep Blackpink's name trending when it's been more than a year since they released any new content. They were my bias female group for a while, but their discography is so short that other groups eventually replaced them in my heart (I guess that makes me a fan but not a Blink, because Blinks are friggin loyal AF and my loyalty waivered. >_< Sorry, Blinks!). Mamamoo is amazing, another 4 member group with some of the best vocal talent in the business. G-Idle is my current favorite group, in large part because their leader writes and produces the actual music like a boss. Mamamoo members are also credited for some of their songs. I'd love if you reacted to Mamamoo or G-Idle. All in all, Blackpink are pretty awesome. Sadly they don't have a lot of music, but they are finally (FINALLY!) going to have a new album coming out soon. It might even be this month. Their songs are super catchy. The lyrics are standard, middle of the road lyrics, nothing ground breaking or super inspirational. I've been told Blackpink members have contributed to some of the songs, but officially none of them are credited as writers or composers or producers, so without any credit to their name I won't say they write their own stuff. All 4 of them have this aura and charisma that translates into amazing stage presence. I definitely hope you check out their new music when it comes out soon!
