Ellis Canvas Tents
I reached out to Ellis Canvas Tents because I was just not too happy with my sleep system. I had seen their products before and was really impressed with the "Cowboy Bedroll". They sent me one to try and can say that so far it is the best I have used for Cowboy Camping.
Soon I hope I can get one of their Canvas Tents

Skito Saddle Pads
I was in the market for a new saddle pad after my old one wore out.
Agnes, my riding mule, has a bad back and it makes a big difference to have a good saddle pad.

In January of this year, a friend and I were hunting for Fire Agates in Arizona and stumbled upon a WWII training site on a mountain top. We were starting down the ridge line when a rock gave under my weight, which sent me cartwheeling 15 feet down the mountainside, until a boulder stopped me. Took two hours to get to a doctor to get 6 stiches put in my hand. As the doctor was putting in the last stitch, he commented I was too old, (67), to be climbing mountains, especially with my health concerns. My reply was he had better take me out back then and put me down like a crippled horse.

We all learn from our mistakes and do better. so we all keep making them, and keep learning from them! love the stories keep, up the good work!

I had packed in for an archery elk hunt in Wyoming one time, and was watching the pack on my mule. It didn't look right, and I realized what was wrong. Went to swing off my big mare, clipped the lead rope on my Arab gelding and he tossed his head. His lead rope caught under my boot and flung me off my horse and down the mountain. Being pretty steep, I didn't land for about 40 feet. Saw stars and knocked the wind out of me, but got up, fixed the pack saddle and continued on. Later as I was scouting the ridge I was on, I realized I was getting stiff. Went back and got my four legged friends and headed back to the trailhead. Got them unsaddled and the gear put away with difficulty. Went back to the ranch, and was so stiff I could not open the door on my truck. Sister in law came out to see what the hell was the matter, I had four or five broken ribs and could hardly move. Easy to have a wreck up in the tall and uncut.

Watched this video many times. Enjoyed the commentary. You rode right through our old camp in the south seco. It was about 50 or so yards upstream from Conley merges with the seco. We first camped there in 87. I got a bull just up from walnut corrals and a bear on the south slope there. For all the others commenting they should Google the battle of the las animas. This series of canyons has a lot of history.

To answer your question Brett, yes I enjoyed the video. I run bird dogs and took a lion with Rez Hounds in 2020, so I am familiar with the trials of trying to get what you want out of your dogs. You did a good job of explaining how a chain gang helps train or break a dog. It makes it easier for them long term. I enjoy learning anything from from an old hand. Sorry to say I will steal anything from your videos if it can save me learning the hard way.

Great remake as it really clarifies the situations you encountered💥 Your replay on the fall reminds me of a fall I took while walking out of a deer archery hunt 😂 Was desert country with occasional small juniper trees 🌲 I was finally less than 100 yards from my truck 🛻 walking on a slippery conglomerate arroyo bank 🪨 The rocks were really colorful so I relaxed my attention a bit from footing to rock hunting 🤣 Then I woke up tangled in a mesquite bush upside down 🤬 Broke my Ring Finger on my left hand 😠 Multitasking NOT SMART even close to the 🛻 Not sure how long the nap 💤 lasted 😂😂🙏✝️🇺🇸

My wife was below me 60 down, shes hollering for me to turn back its too steep and unsafe. Just as i step on the ridge of the long hill the path went over the top and the whole eastern side of that hill slid down cattle tumbling and trying to swim out...they all died, buried 30 under soil and gravel. I sat on that ridge looking at my wife...i thought golly am i glad i listen to my wife

I guess I am a little odd .. however I am curious as to what you wear when you are out, clothes, boots, jacket, rain gear, etc .

Ep 372 talking about snow and cold being worse than heavy rains and wet. Glad to hear some truth from these houndsmen busting your old myths...

I believe you called me a snowflake hunter. DoubleU podcast 372 scenting conditions with large amounts of packs tested. Busted old myth form well respected houndsmen.

No feelings, I stated the scientific reasons behind cold snow leaving no scent, they doubled my personal experience talking back to world hunts. Snow and cold only a few catches rain and wind wind almost no issues. Had to bring your posse attention to it. Teach them correctly.

lol there are all kinds of conditions people have to deal with … I really can’t remember what was said but I can tell it must of bothered you .. the only thing I can say is we can just look at the facts what does a dry ground lion hound sell for compared to a snow hound ? I’m sure there are conditions in the snow that are tough … if I called anyone a snowflake I was just joking I have good friends that only will hunt snow but they are honest about the advantages

@@BrettVaughnB100 I’m thinking 2014. Strange how I found your channel. I saw your comment on a video about Nick Diaz (I think it was a family member of yours , same last name?)I hate to think how it wasn’t that long ago and it’s been ten years. Too fast…
