Super helpful tips about where to put the flies, and about using darker nymphs in the darker faster water where big rocks are. I also appreciate the idea of using a jig hook to bounce along the bottom. I'm always getting caught on the bottom so sort of avoid nymphing. I love small stream fishing. Thanks for a great video!

I started tying at 8yr and have been outa the game until recently as ive begun to do hundreds of jigs for river spinning. My question is for heavily bushed creeks, I just made my first leader 5.5' for my 1wt, likely will be doing more jig/drift bottom bouncing than floating. Any advice on leader/indicator for the 1wt bush wacking rig?

The Allen rod is the best small stream rod I have come across and the price point is very affordable. The reel has been fished for 4 seasons now and is still working in great shape. Ever notice how fly fishers do this weird arm WAY up in the air when they catch a fish to avoid pulling the tapered leader though the tip guide? We hate trying to get the junction between leader and line through that guide so much we'd rather ram our rod tip into the trees than fk with getting the leader loop or nail not through that guide lol.

Ryan The Rock in smaller creeks like this that aren’t as deep. If you find a super deep run and you don’t see any dry fly activity, then put on a nymph rig and fish it to get your bugs down deep.

@calebbecker97062 жыл бұрын
From my own experience and from what I've understood from talking with people in the industry flourocarbon tippet holds no significant advantage in visibility to fish. The reason why fluro may be better for nymphing is because it sinks faster and offers more abrasion resistance.

@karsondecker88235 жыл бұрын
Anytime you see your dry fly no matter what kind it may be make any movement out of the normal drift even if it just barely "bobs" on the surface, set the hook. That indicates that a fish has taken the dropper. If a fish eats the dry fly off the top, set as well. Hook sets are free my friend!
