Practicing bushcraft skills at my long-term shelter in the woods. On this trip, I made a wooden comb. I split a piece of hardwood using a machete knife. I carved the comb using a Karesuando Axe and my Moraknive carving knife. I used the Kohlrosing technique for the first time: engraving a leaf pattern on the comb using a knife, oil, cinnamon, and coffee powder. I made a simple tripod for campfire cooking. I prepared green beans with garlic dressing and millet polenta for dinner. I drank ginger and linden flower tea while enjoying the soothing sounds of the rain. No talking, only peaceful nature sounds.
I created a playlist with all the videos that I filmed at my long-term shelter - you can access it by clicking this link:

Wow! This video was amazing. You always provide a morsel of something new and unique every time. It displays your many photography and bushcrafting talents. With all due respect to the other bushcrafters on KZbin I am 100% correct when I say there is no other person with your level of intrigue and talent. I have given up watching all the other bushcrafters, both male and female I used to view with the exception of Ric Naguelero. You and he are in a class all your own. You both are the best of the best. This is evidenced by the fact that people appreciate you so much they send you wonderful gifts. That says a lot. That Machete and hatchet gift was really nice. Nice job making that comb and continued good flute playing. The comb was a pleasant surprise. Even more so was the closer look we got of you this time. Not surprised at all by the stunning beauty beneath that hat and behind the glasses. I wish you 1 million subscribers. If there is justice in this world you'll get there. Thanks again for making it a wonderful Saturday for me.

Making a comb like that with the tools you used is quite a challenge - I bet it only took you a few hours, it would take me several just because of the thought of accidentally breaking one of the teeth on that comb! It would surely slow me down a bunch

Good Afternoon Johanna .. It's nice to see you back in the long-term Shelter 👍. Yep, changes in activities and environment does a lot to stimulate Creativity and also re-juvenate the Spirit 😊. A very good idea putting additional background information into WordPress .. and if I may please .. a compliment? The Profile Photo therein definitely does you justice 🌹. Wood carving .. even just 'whittling' is a great relaxant .. especially with rain pattering down on the roof and one is dry and warm. Although at times, the little grey cells can surprise one, whilst the hands are busy, with neat ideas that seem to pop out of nowhere. Combs .. alas .. with the amount of growth on my crown, strictly ornamental 😊. In your case though, a beautiful carving and I'm sure, will be put to good use. And .. practice, practice and more practice is paying dividends with the Flute 👍👍👍. Nice recipe, although I am a Meat Eater .. the 'Caveman Diet' being the most beneficial for my Body Type, I enjoy Meatless Recipes .. the price of meat here in Switzerland being also a great motivator in that regard 😉. This one will definitely be added to my list. If it includes Garlic and Olive Oil, then it must be good 👍. Mosquitoes and Ticks I can live with .. but Flies .. AARGHH 😖 .. hate them 😊. Until next time my Friend .. please take care out there .. stay alert and be safe .. Tommy

Thank you very much for your kind comment, Tommy! There were not many flies there. I have no big problems with large ones, but there are a sort of little flies there, that resemble ticks, that stick to your skin and they are really annoying. Not many near the hut. Thank God! :)) Beans with garlic dressing is a very popular dish here. Take care too! Wish you all the best and see you soon!

A dazzling complex dance which, I imagine, needs much practice! But what fun! It was lovely to see you back at your little house just pottering and doing the small things that mean so much. I wish you much happiness here and indeed wherever you are, whatever your doing. Your quiet, gentle videos are so refreshing I would feel lost without them so I wish you every success for the future. Thank you.

Thank you very much for such a kind comment, David! Yes, such dances require much practice, but they used to be a normal part of life here, not so long ago. Hope I'll manage to make many more videos for my viewers to enjoy. Best wishes to you and your loved ones!

Beautiful vedio, Johanna and such a sweet spirit about you. Loved seeing the close up of your face and hair. Thankyou for sharing such personal stuff with us. Loved the sunflowers 🌻💛the comb was great and flute playing. Here in Oklahoma USA native Americans play them, so tranquil and defiantly belongs there with you, well done friend.

Yes, very similar to our ancestors - the flute was very loved by our shepherds and villagers. Brought peace to their hearts, they could express their emotions through music. It would be a pity if this form of folk art would be lost. Thank you very much, Dianna! Best wishes!
