Bushcraft Wikiup Shelter - Heavy Rain - Building a Camp Roof - Making a Handle for a Drill Bit Set

Bushcraft Wikiup Shelter - It started raining heavily soon after I reached my bushcraft wikiup shelter - I could not film as much as I wished as I had to set up some tarps and protect my filming equipment from the heavy rain first. The weather was unstable so I decided to build a roof over my camp that will keep my bushcraft table and the chair I made safe and will help them last longer. The roof is good enough for rain, but I will have to make it sturdier and prepare it for winter in the future. I made a handle for a beautiful drill bit set I received as a gift from a friend. I think you will enjoy the creative process of making such a handle. It reminded me of another interesting project of mine that I made last year in the forest - a handle for a vintage bird-shaped cleaver. Johannatown is really coming along. You have built quite a beautiful outpost in the forest. I love the additions this week. When I saw you hammering that piece of metal I couldn't figure out what you were making. I was focused on those gifted hands. They always work with such purpose and confidence. I am very pleased to take Openel ring-locking folding knives into the woods for food preparation. So often, larger, costlier Bushcraft knives are poor slicers and are difficult to do fine work with. I like to see woodcrafters bring different tools along, rather than to concentrate on how light a load they can carry.

The raindrops were a perfect background for the beginning of your drill handle creation. I purposefully don't read your descriptions before watching so I am constantly surprised. You got me on the plate building as I thought it was going to be some kind of decorative plate for a tool. Then you started sawing a hole in the middle and I couldn't stand it anymore so I paused to go read and find out. At 67 still no patience. Anyway... It is an amazing piece crafted with those rudimentary tools. You have an oasis there that you will enjoy for so long. And your flute magic has grown!! THANK YOU JOHANNA!

I love being outdoors and hiking/ camping in the rain and snow (light inclement weather, though). Something magical about the pouring rain and snow in a forest. I have never successfully lit a campfire in light rain; now I bring quick light charcoal as a bed for my firewood. Nice video
