Great tour Mark !! Terry takes the tops of his broad beans to stop the black flies taking the sap. Might be worth a try ??? Colleen loves the Forget me Nots idea !! Cool to see all the Bumble Bees. Awesome wide lens shot :) Your garden is definitely one of our favorites Mark !! Epic job !! We hope you stick with your plan!! Lots of learning!! Cheers J&C 🌱🌱🌱

Hey CJ! Yeah, the tops came off just as soon as the blackfly arrived. No change bless ‘em! I have come to the conclusion that I need to encourage a wide range of visitors to the plot! So over the next year that’s my mission! You two inspire me too, especially your opening lines of “so, what are we doing hun?” Lol keep doing what you do guys and thanks for your kind words

Really needed this video after a pretty hard week Mark. Your relaxed style is perfect and it was an absolute joy to watch from beginning to end - the footage of the wildlife is brilliant. Those Irises are the perfect size for establishing and they love having wet "feet" - the pond is establishing brilliantly and that hornwort will start doing what it does best soon :) Lastly, the music is really fitting and reminds me that I should play more Django Reinhardt & Stefan Grappelli! Thanks so much for this video :) Best wishes, Joel

Thanks so much Joel, I’m very pleased you were able to start relaxing after all your hard work! I hope you both have a relaxing break! Thanks for the info on those irises which I grew from seed (I’m still very surprised!). Yes, that music makes me smile when put together with clips of wildlife going about their business! Have a wonderful few days. All the best

Lovely update Mark, the nitrogen fix only happens if we cut down before flowering and black fly has been a major issue here too. Excuse Me. 😋☘️ ♻️Happy gardening, Terry King.

Pity the shield bugs don't eat the blackfly, your problem would be solved. I'm a wild your garden fan and I find that leaving things alone is often the best way to deal with everything, not in a lazy way, just letting nature take care of itself. I grow a few veg, not a huge plot, in the garden and sweetcorn is my favourite. Don't you find by having the wild areas in your allotment they attract the predatory insects that take care of the pests? Love your visitor at the end! lovely video glad I had a look!

Lol, well I think it was looking for food and shelter but was going up the wrong plant. I’m going to put signs out saying “broad beans this way” hopefully it’ll get the idea! You’re right, leave nature to itself is the best way. I’ve noticed a lot of baby lady birds on the plot, but I need to make the space more welcoming for them. Glad you liked the wildlife filming. It’s like Spring Watch on the allotment! Have a good week! Thanks for stopping by

Brilliant stuff Mark! I love the way things are coming together and I like your approach so the plot almost develops itself as and when it inspires your next creative move. The pond is a triumph, and every time you upload a video we're wondering what new footage your wildlife camera will have caught. Whoever owns your allotment site owes you a debt of thanks for all your hard work! All the best, David

That’s very good of you David. Yes, although I had a very rough plan, I mostly let ideas develop themselves. I’m so glad I put the pond in and love watching the wildlife interact with it. It’s very satisfying having got this far. I get many very positive comments and interactions from local people passing by and society plot members. It makes it all very worthwhile. The wildlife camera really does make a difference! Take care

Thanks Mark! My wildlife camera broke but you're inspiring me to get a new one. I notice you put lilies in your pond. The first year we had a lily it was all set to flower when the foxes bit the bud off. Prior to that they'd been chewing the top of a solar fountain we had floating in the pond so we had to remove it. Hopefully they wont take the buds of any flowers you might get but it's something to watch out for (your camera might catch them at it). I now put a net over the lily buds whenever we get them so they can mature into flowers. Thankfully the foxes don't bother with them once they've opened up.

Wildlife is so funny lol! The day after I planted the pond plants I had to put lots of pebbles around each plant to stop the birds digging up the roots for their nests! Once I realised I had a chuckle! It’s a very small lily and I’ll keep you posted, thanks for the heads up!
