I have watched number of these high powered rockets. It seems that most of rockets veer off a straight up launch right after they leave the launch rod. It is like they whip off the end. It feels like the launch rod has too much flex or the rod is not long enough. You have solved the problem and have a nice straight launch. Well done my good sir! Well done.
