One creature that’s developed a shocking but effective defense mechanism is none other than the electric eel, able to spontaneously generate high-voltage pulses of electricity.

I used to train my graduates by a 1000v insulation resistance tester. They come out of university all sure of themselves with their degree, formulas and copied notation, but still never understood electricity at its heart. They did when I had finished training them 😂. Always did the experiments on myself first and all participants volunteered knowing fully what was going to happen. Although maybe alarming to some, when you are in the know it’s all calculated and proved. They left my training true engineers and could understand any electrical problem posed with time to reflect on it of course. Had to run it through the HR department and HSE department first literally. Fun times but a brilliant learning tool used correctly.

@jeremiah6462
@jeremiah6462 2 ай бұрын
I love it! These people actually believe this creature developed a body designed this way. They think it took hundreds of thousands of years.... 🤣 I have several questions for them. 1. Did this creature consciously make changes to its own DNA structure to cause this to be the end result? 2. How did a creature evolve something that didn't exist prior? 3. What evolved first, the part of the fish that actually creates the shock, or the entire support system needed? 4. shouldn't this creature be evolving now? 5. If the electric eel "evoleved" this ability, why don't other creatures evolve it? But we are the crazy ones...

@@jeremiah6462 1. No. 2. By means of Natural Selection. 3. Probably in conjunction. 4. It may be, maybe not,...depends on natural pressures. 5. Some have, namely the electric catfish and the electric ray. Others don't because natural selection does not pressure them into a situation where this ability would be an advantage. You're not crazy. You just don't understand the principles of Evolution by means of Natural Selection.

You don't go from an ape to a man via natural selection. 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 I am talking about evolution, which is one creature changing into a completely different creature. You have to believe something can come from nothing. Which is the basis for your worldview, so bravo on your consistency. Unfortunately, you fail when it comes to scientific theory and ALL logic.

They were a pinkish white and not very big. 12-24" Is mostly what we caught. We couldn't get the hooks out until they had used up all their power by us using sticks and our rods to make it discharge. When you catch one, you hope it's just a fluke, catch the next one and fishing is over. Too much effort for getting shocked.

"They hunt in large groups. Up to 100 electric eels form a prey-ball." Well, that's scary as hell.

So, someone in KZbin makes a fancy video of 860V killing an allagator yet many people are tased daily with at least 50,000 V and that sometimes is endured for 30 seconds or more with no ill effects.

@@supermansuperman9066 It's not so much the voltage as the current that harms you. 200 milliamps can kill a person

@@AC-hj9tv yep, it's the amperage behind the amount of voltage that is the REAL thing to watch out for. I remember holding this generator that made something like a hundred thousand volts, possibly more. It would make the hair on your arms stand up straight and light floresant light bulbs just being near it, but it was such low amperage that it didn't even feel like the slightest jolt..
