This is Country Music! I can't say enough about this music giant. Maybelle Carter was awesome! Her singing was as pure as it could be, and her guitar and autoharp playing was so incredible that her unique style is still being studied by the wonderful musicians we have today.

the hootenanny show in blk and wht. 1965/66? at friends house and maybell carter sang this song. i wasn't driving yet so i took a bus home and plinked and plunked for a week until i managed to play wildwood flower. i've been practicing for over 50 yrs and am getting close. god bless mother maybelle and all of hers.

Dear Bill : I wish you (to) congratulate for "your" right tuning on/with your tape machine (LP). I can play (on lead guitar) with Maybelle's song. Now, my answer foy/to many friends : the recording tune is key Eb (in french : MiB). Maybelle use one capo at/on 3th fret and play in key of C.

This is a beautiful song Bill, she has a good voice (I presume she is one of the Carter family)? Her voice is quite deep but I like it.

She was in the original Carter family recordings from the 1920’s. That’s Mother Maybelle, she was the sister of Sara who was A.P. Carter’s wife, and the three of them were known as the Carter family. They were considered the pioneers of country music. Maybelle’s style of guitar picking became a stalwart for country guitar pickers and rockabilly pickers everywhere. It was a style of its own, called the ‘Carter scratch’. Mother Maybelle went on to have children of her own. Her daughter June Carter went on to marry Johnny Cash and Anita Carter had the most beautiful voice (in my opinion).
