Wildwood Off Grid Alaska

Күн бұрын

Join us this week as we head over to help our family raise the trusses on their pole barn. Once we finish with the hard stuff, we switch gears and head up the river on an early moose season scouting trip. We have a great time and, as usual, we try and live our lives full of fun, friendship, and adventure. Hope you enjoy!

The last few episodes have been very interesting, from hunting to helping your children erect the first building on their homestead. You have been role models for your children and now your grandchildren. Time to purchase some more acreage close by so when the grandchildren get older, they can build their own homestead. Now onto your projects as winter approaches. Still waiting to see the solar panels go up and you start generating your power from the sun.

Telehandler for the win! Much faster and safer than trying to do it with ladders and pure physical effort. 🙂 Can you follow Travis' and Amber's build on your channel? I have a feeling you may be involved... My thought in the lower 48 was to build or have a pole barn built with a well and septic and put your travel trailer inside until you can build your home.

We’ll check in now and then when I help with their build. They have the same idea to move their camper into the shop and live in there until they can build a house.

it was so nice to see that your family's house is coming a long is that where they plan on living or is it a garage, that river ride looked like a lot of fun good luck on the moose hunt hope you get your limit talk next week
@wildwoodoffgridalaska

They plan to live in the garage at first, then build their house as they have the money. It’s expensive and they don’t want any debt, so it will take them some time before they’re finished.

Heres a hint if you have to raise them by hand : slide them up 2 ladders one at a time. Secret is to get 3/4 them up, raised and nailed . Then get ALL the rest up, raise them, but don't attach them until they're all up & raised !!! Just watched 2 other homesteading channels do this recently in Tennessee. Simple Life Reclaimed did there's a month of so agk and just last weekend helped out on another homestead but thet have the video on their channel if you're jnterested for reference value.🇦🇺✝️💞🙏👍👌✌️👏🇺🇲Dangvthatbrivervrun was AWESONE !!!!!Both ways 👌👍

I also use a jet ranger and love seeing the rivers you run up there which are so different from southeast Alaska. I’m jealous of your two stroke outboard. The fuel efficiency of my four stroke is awesome but it’s pretty heavy. I’m looking forward to seeing that boat full of moose meat, good luck!
@wildwoodoffgridalaska

What motor are you running? Can you lift it or do you keep it mounted on the boat?
@lukewoodruff4030
@lukewoodruff4030 Жыл бұрын
@@wildwoodoffgridalaska It’s the mercury 25 jet 4 stroke which requires two people to put in on or take it off most of the time. It’s almost 200lbs but the quiet and efficient running is pretty nice. It would be nice to have a second 2-stroke outboard for a lighter option. Is your Johnson 25hp at the powerhead?
@wildwoodoffgridalaska
@wildwoodoffgridalaska Жыл бұрын
@@lukewoodruff4030 yes 25 at the powerhead. I also have a Johnson 30hp it’s older but has a little more kick.

Extra nice video! Its good to see you again ;) That's quite the handy way to put up trusses. Congratulations to your daughter and family on their new building. You'll have to do a quick follow-up on their roof and building if they don't mind. Loved the family get together picture. You're fortunate to have your family living close by. Hey Ryan do you drive a vehicle as fast as you do that boat on water? 😅 the beach time was special. ;) You're better together and make a great team. ❤ Just curious if you had a chainsaw accident out there how likely is it to get medical help? My nephew has cut wood for years and he accidentally cut his leg with a chainsaw. Good luck to you on your next moose hunt. Haha 😂 I'd think it would sink that boat. Thanks for sharing another great video ❤
@wildwoodoffgridalaska

We’ll do a follow up on their build as it goes. If we had an accident up the river the best we could do is use our inreach to get airlifted out to medical help. It’s best to just be careful and not have accidents.

Ryan you owe Von a rubdown for wacking her back with the overhang while boating through. I see you both strapped quite a bit around the house but you werent out on your field trip? Ever put a hole in the raft doing that? Been looking at one to do the same thing your doing
@wildwoodoffgridalaska
@wildwoodoffgridalaska Жыл бұрын
This raft we use is super tough. We be never puncture it and we’ve hit logs jams coming down river. I wouldn’t try to use a standard zodiac style raft to do what we do. I’ve seen plenty of people selling standard rafts with jets saying they perform but it’s not the same. Look for a Alaska Jet Ranger or a Solar jet raft.
