This time at the Quick Speed Shop I bought a Chinese BBD knock off carburetor of eBay to try and fix the AMC 258 six in my 1946 Studebaker truck. Will it work? Let's unbox it, install it, and find out!

Studebake/Rambler truck... how cool is that ..💯❗️I’ve seen the truck in other videos but I never realized or caught that it had an AMC motor. What ever exhaust is on it with that “6” makes it sounds just like it would have back in the day but with decades better technology. You have the coolest ‘old school’ hot rods. 👍

Visors came from some car I junked. Don't remember what, I think Ford of some sort.

So far so good! Much improved over the older one. Engine sounds quiet, smooth. Awesome old truck. I'm guessing the Studebaker engine was wore out

Don't know what happened to the original engine. My Dad had a 350 in it way back in '75.

Haven't had any trouble yet. That vent just went to a charcoal canister in the OEM AMC application

I replaced plastic valve cover on AMC 258 with aluminum. oil filler cap leaks . I like yours is it home made or did you buy it

I used a rubber expansion plug to seal mine. I fill the oil thru the breather hole with a small funnel. My engine has a lot of blowby and was pushing oil out of the push in oil cap it came with.

same here. also put an oil drip CANISTER THANKS for responding. I am still using old bbd thus drip canister. spring I might try carb upgrade .@@QuickSpeedShop

Of course that new carb will work; proper idle mixture is 30 rpm drop from maximum speed. It's up to you to torque body to frame mount bolts, engine mounts, u-joints and whatever else is rattling on that truck, get to work! ;)

It actually developed a vacuum leak after a few miles around the super sloppy Chinese throttle shaft bushings, so it runs somewhat ok for cheap junk. The rattles, well the truck is 77 years old...

Don't know what you mean? It's a 4 bolt base plate.

That engine runs best at 900 rpm idle.

Went through two Chinese carbs,same thing never can get it running right,trash

Your hot idle is too fast. You are not on the idle circuit of the carb. Slow it down and adjust the hot idle.

Only some of my cars and trucks are manual. The others are automatics. I don't know if the manual ones say engine or motor or if they change it up. The automatics seem to prefer powerplant.
